Where to Buy Some Tickets for Some Great Family Fun at Reliant Park

Carla Fuentes
One of the biggest annual events in Houston is the Livestock Show and Rodeo. The world's largest rodeo it draws over two million visitors each year. This year the rodeo is taking place March 1 through March 20, 2011. It is not too late to buy some tickets and head out to Reliant Park on the weekend or spring break for good old-fashioned family fun. No matter what your age you will find something to interest you. There is good Bar-B-Que, rodeo events, livestock show, concerts, carnival, petting zoo, arts and crafts, children's activities and lots of shopping. Below you will find information on where to buy rodeo tickets and details about all the great family fun at Reliant Park that the rodeo offers.

General Admission:

You will need a ticket for entry into Reliant Park. Children under two is free, ages three to twelve cost $4 and for adults $7. This will give you access to the horse events, shopping, food, livestock show, the carnival (ride tickets are extra) and the popular Capital One Bank Agventure. If your children like to ride the carnival rides and play the games the carnival tickets are extra. Each ride takes about 4 tickets and can get quite expensive very quickly. If you want to see a concert these are also bought separately. For those on a limited budget the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo does offer discounted value days. They are March 2, 9 and 16th. Be aware these days get very busy so arrive early to beat some of the crowd.

Concerts:

My husband and I have been to see many different musical performers over the years at the rodeo. The rodeo offers a great mix of rock, country and western, R&B and Tejano performers. This year Sunday March 13 is go Tejano Day. Tickets for all concerts can start as low as $18 for upper level seats and go up to as much as $300.00 for chute level tickets. Always be careful and purchase your tickets from a reliable source, you do not want to get duped into buying a fake ticket. As of right now there are still concert tickets available for great acts like Kiss, Tim McGraw, Selena Gomez, Rascall Flatts, Kid Rock, Janet Jackson, Clay Walker and Sugar Land.

Livestock Show and Rodeo Events:

Every year the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo features the best in livestock and rodeo and racing competition. This year the 2011 BP Super Series Schedule for rodeo events are no different. The rodeo championship is open to top cowboys from all over the world. They will be competing for a purse worth over a total of $1.5 million dollars. The series will feature bull riding, steer wrestling, women's barrel racing, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding and team roping. Here you can get the daily schedule of rodeo competition.

You can experience the world's largest livestock show and see champions us close. The livestock show includes Texas 4-H, FFA members and professional breeders from across the country. They have a junior, youth and open divisions of competition. You will see the best in swine, rabbits, sheep, cattle and goats.

Children and Family Activities:

The biggest draw to the Houston rodeo is all the wonderful family events and activities. If you have younger children take them to see the Capital One Agventure animal exhibits. The have different animal exhibits for the children to see, at each one they will get an animal trading card. When they visit all the exhibits they will get a rodeo pin. For children under 12 you will find pony rides. Another favorite is the petting zoo; they can touch and feed an unique variety of animals. Be sure to watch your little children some of the animals like the goats can be a little intimidating they are very courageous about coming up to you for food. In the vendor booths you will find many items to buy for your kids. Every year mine like to make a decorative plastic bottle full of colorful sand. For children young and old they will enjoy the carnival rides and games. They have rides for smaller children and roller coasters and bungee ball for older and more adventurous teenagers. With so many varied activities a ticket to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is a ticket for a day filled with fun and excitement.

Sounds like great fun! My sister just flew to El Paso this morning to visit a friend who owns a ranch in Texas. We met Sandy when she lived in NY a few years back - but she's loving living in Texas now and a real cowgirl :) cheers :)
