Houston Restaurant Review: The Enclave Sports Grill Formerly Known as Indigo Joe's

Lisa Carey
The Enclave is located in Houston, near the intersection of Eldridge Parkway and Memorial Drive, convenient to I-10. When you first enter the restaurant you are greeted and seated; with seating available in both the bar section (only for those over 18) and then in the general seating area. Both sections offer high tops, 4 top tables and booths but what is most striking about The Enclave is the 59 HD televisions. Wall sized flat screen televisions offer viewing of multiple games at one time along one wall, while others are mounted in corners throughout the restaurant. In booths smaller flat screen televisions are available where children can actually choose the channel they want, like Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. There is also a game room, which while small is smart enough to have a "claw machine" that is a winner every time. No crying kids because they didn't win a treat.

The Enclave Sports Grill Menu and Pricing
The Enclave's menu is pretty standard pub fare. There is a children's menu with prices at approximately $4.99 and offers chicken tenders, burgers, and macaroni and cheese. The price includes a drink and you can substitute sweet potato fries or fruit for regular fries.

The adult menu includes grilled chicken sandwiches, a variety of salads, burgers and a few other dishes including pasta. Nothing unusual or extraordinary about the menu but the prices are reasonable, the servings are large and I admit to wanting the whole basket of sweet potato fries to myself! The food is prepared well and I have never had to send anything back. The average meal price is approximately $10.00.

The Enclave Sports Grill Happy Hour and Specials
There are Happy Hour specials on drinks and food so it's a good idea to check out the happy hour menu when you first arrive and unlike some places they are not limited to the bar section only. My favorite special is the Chips and Queso, Wings and Pitcher of Beer. There is plenty to share and they actually cook the wings nice and crispy with your choice of sauces like Teriyaki, BBQ, Mild, Medium or Hot.

I honestly have not tried the desserts because there is never enough room after dinner. I usually end up taking home a box of food.

Reservations/Call ahead seating at The Enclave Sports Grill
It's important when going to The Enclave to call ahead to hold a table if you have a party of 6 or more. Most tables are 4 tops and will require some extra prep time, plus during say a Texan's or Aggie's game it can get pretty crowded in there. I like to go early in the day, before the dinner rush starts, but on a Saturday and Sunday evening or game with local teams plan on a crowd.

We have been there several times now, and each time the service and the food are very good. My children enjoy choosing their own channels and telling them they can play in the game room is a great way to get them to do their chores on a Saturday morning. It is definitely a family friendly atmosphere as they don't mind us playing card games, switching channels, entertaining the children (or the messes children can make) as well as it is a no smoking environment and the bar is in an entirely different part of the building separated by a wall, keeping the children away from whatever may be happening in there. Usually it's a nice sized group of people enjoying a game and having a drink and food, having fun and hanging out. I appreciate the attentive service and how the owners mix, mingle and jump in where needed to get the job done on a busy night. Even more importantly, they don't allow any "trouble" noting first and foremost that this a family fun, family friendly sports grill.

I'll be returning again and again, with the whole family but look forward to a night out in Houston alone with my husband too.
