How to Make $100 Quick

10 Common Household Items to Sell to Make $100

We've all been there. We need to come up with just a little bit of extra money in order to pay the rent or pay for that unexpected car repair. Let's just pretend that you need $100 to pay that bill. You go through all the options and realize that selling something would be the quickest and easiest way to come up with the money. Now it's time to starting thinking about what to sell to make a hundred dollars. Here is a list of 10 common household items that you can sell on Ebay or Craigslist to come up with $100 quick:

1. Furniture - maybe you have a twin size bed in your attic or some extra bookshelves in your office. If you even have 1 or 2 pieces of quality furniture, you can likely sell them on Craigslist or at a yard sale for $100.

2. DVDs - you may be thinking that you would have to sell your entire DVD collection to make $100 but you need to think outside the box with this one. Do you have any TV shows on DVD? You can likely sell each season for $20 or more, depending on its rarity and its condition. Try selling DVDs on Ebay or Amazon.

3. TVs - almost everyone has an extra television. Sell yours and you can make $50 or more, depending on its size, brand and condition. TVs sell best on Craigslist, in the classifieds or at a yard sale.

4. Computer - if you have upgraded your computer recently, you probably have what you consider an "old dinosaur" lying around somewhere. If it can get on the internet and run basic programs like Microsoft Office, sell it. If you have a newer computer, it could fetch much more than $100. If you do decide to sell your computer, make sure you delete all of the personal information on the computer and do a fresh install of the operating system. If you want to be extra safe, use a program like Darik's Nuke and Boot (http://www.dban.org/) and install Linux on the computer before you sell it. Your computer will probably sell best on Craigslist or in the classifieds.

5. Cell phones - if you're like the average American, you probably have several old cell phones that you aren't using. If you took good care of them, you can sell them to someone who needs a new phone due because they dropped it or lost it. If you happened to have unlocked your cell phones so they can be used on multiple cell phone networks, you can sell them for even more. Your best bet for selling cell phones is Craigslist.

6. iPods/MP3 players - if you have a newer MP3 player that works well and has a good reputation, you can sell it to come up with some extra cash. If you have accessories for the MP3 player such as a dock, cases or fancy headphones, you can make even more. Try selling this on Ebay or Craigslist.

7. Video games - most video games today sell for $50 and up. If you happen to have a few lying around that you aren't playing, sell them. Just 2 high quality video games could get you the money you need to pay your bill. Sell these on Craigslist, Amazon or Ebay for the most cash.

8. Video game console - this is an easy one. If you have a current generation video game console you aren't playing - sell it. You can make the money you need plus add some money to a savings account. It's a win-win. To make the most money, sell it on Craigslist or Ebay.

9. Textbooks - if you or someone in your home is a college student, you can make some quick cash by selling textbooks. Just whatever you do, don't sell them at the college bookstore. They are looking to make a quick buck off of you. Stick to Craigslist, Ebay, and flyers at the local college to sell these textbooks.

10. Small appliances - chances are you have some sort of small appliance you purchased but never used. This may be a fancy blender, a quesadilla maker or some other odd appliance you just had to have. Sell it at a yard sale or Craigslist to make some quick cash.

If you sell just 1 or 2 of the items on this list, you'll have the money you need in no time. Just be patient and don't let anyone talk your price down more than you are willing to go down. Have a minimum price in mind before you list the item and price it 10-25% more than your minimum.
