Victorian 3-D Floral Picture

Supplies:

5 inch x 3 inch x 2 inch piece of wood (approximate size)
Bag mini polished stones
4 - 5" to 6" wooden spindles
2 tongue depressors
Grout in a tube
Off-white acrylic paint
Medium gray acrylic paint
Toothpicks
Paint brush
Doll house rocking chair
Small green vines
Glue gun and glue sticks
Dried florals
Small picture hanger bracket
Cement glue

Directions:

1. Cover your work area with a tarp. Place all wood pieces and rocking chair on the tarp. Pour the off-white paint in a small bowl. Paint the tongue depressors, wood block, wood spindles and rocking chair off-white. Paint all sides. Let dry, repeat. I find a second coat is often needed to make sure pieces are completely covered.

2. Use the cement glue for this piece. Lay the spindles down spaced evenly on the tarp. A space of approximately 1/4 inch between spindles is good. Glue a tongue depressor across the middle, back of the spindles. This is the back of the Victorian fence. Glue another tongue depressor to the back, bottom of the spindles to help secure the fence.

3. Wrap and glue the vine around the Victorian fence. Attach the picture hanger bracket on the center of the first tongue depressor. Put the fence aside.

4. Sporadically glue the smooth stones around the front and side edges of the wood platform, leaving the back plain wood. To make the stones look realistic, I place tiny amounts of grout around the stones using a toothpick. I gently rub the faux stone wall with a paper towel to make sure it is smooth, and the grout is off the stones. Let the grout dry completely.

5. Pour a small amount of the gray paint into a bowl. Using a small paint brush, lightly dab the grout. After this is done I gently wipe the paint off the grout. This gives the stones a weathered, realistic look.

6. Use the cement glue for this step. Put cement glue on the bottom of the Victorian fence. Place this fence on the back end of the block. Hold in place for a few seconds. I also like to put cement glue around the bottom where the fence was attached for extra security. I lean two small books against each side to hold it in place until it is completely secure. Let dry completely.

7. Use your glue gun for this step. Glue dried florals to the center of the rocking chair. Glue the rocking chair centered in front of the Victorian fence.

8. Glue dried florals to the side of the wooden platform behind the rocking chair, and in front of the Victorian fence.
