Fourth of July is a popular patriotic holiday and red, white, and blue colors are associated with it as they represent the American flag. Prepare a special Fourth of July dessert by incorporating these patriotic colors into your dessert to make the occasion extra special.

If you plan to use prepared cake, spread whipped cream topping evenly over the cake. Slice fresh strawberries and place the slices in rows over the cake. Leave a small square space on the top left of the cake. Place fresh blueberries in the square space. The cake will now resemble the American flag.

If you are preparing cake from a scratch, prepare the batter according to recipe directions and divide the mixture into three separate bowls. Add red food coloring to one bowl, blue food coloring to another bowl, and leave the white batter as is.

Grease a rectangle cake pan and pour the white cake batter on one side of the pan. Pour the red cake batter in the middle, beside the white mixture. Finish with pouring the blue cake batter beside the red batter. Bake the cake as per the directions and cool completely. Spread whip topping or whipped cream evenly on top of the cake. Slice strawberries and place the slices in rows over the cake. Leave a small square gap on the top left corner and place blueberries in the square space. The cake should resemble the American flag.

Chill your 4th of July dessert thoroughly before serving. You can use other fruit if you are making this dessert for another occasion.
