How 5 Little Books Keep You Engaged While Traveling on a Plane

Rhonda K Hicks
I highly recommend reading each of these books while flying on a plane. Ironically all of the books except for one are in the business section of bookstores. The remaining book that is not in the business section is in the personal development section. In my opinion, each time I read these books while on a plane I was intrigued and engaged which means I did not fall asleep as the content was inviting.

Book Reveiw #1
"The Go-Giver"
A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea
Bob Burg and John David Mann

This book is my number one choice to read while on a plane. Readers will not be able to put this book down. "The Go Giver" makes you ask the very important question of have you ever spent more time on going, going, going instead of getting? Most people are like Joe who is the main character in this book. Joe is a go getter and he spends more of his time going instead of getting. Joe comes to a cross road in his professional life and becomes befuddled when he finds he will not be able to meet his third quarter sales quota. Joe turns to a senior employee who for advice and the senior employee recommends Joe to go and speak to a man called The Chairman. "The Go Giver "will definitely keep readers occupied on a flight as each reader will want to know how this story unfolds for Joe.

Book Review #2
"Leadership 101"
What Every Leader Needs to Know
John C. Maxwell

I received this book at a conference and there are two things that Maxwell covers in this book that enhanced my leadership level immediately. One, he covers the 20/80 principle or the Pareto Principle. The second topic that really stood out for me is where Maxwell discusses why influence is very important. Princess Diana and Mother Teresa are perfect examples of the power of influence for leaders.

John C. Maxwell sums up how to be an effective leader in the following quote "you can love people without leading them but you cannot lead people without loving them". Finding out what type of leader you are will keep you entertained during your flight. Once you arrive at your destination you will be motivated and inspired to use the principles in this book right away.

Book Review #3
"The Four Agreements"
A Practical guide to Personal Freedom
Don Miguel Ruiz

"The Four Agreements" is a an intriguing book to read. Don Miguel talks about the four agreements which are: Be impeccable with your word, Don't take anything personal, Don't make assumptions and Always do your best.

This book is labeled the practical guide to personal freedom because it mentions basic knowledge that will literally free you in my opinion immediately. This book reminds me of the type of advice a parent would give to their children. The concepts are easy to understand and the author gets right to the point. By reading this book on the plane you will truly be enlightened on your way to personal freedom.

Book Review #4
"Who Are You?"
A Success Process for Building Your Life's Foundation
Stedman Graham

My book is personally autographed by Stedman Graham. He was a speaker for one of our educational programs and I along with other staff had a chance to have a personal group meeting with Mr. Graham

I want to bring your attention to chapter two because it probably the most powerful chapter. Stedman Graham talks about the most powerful word in the world. When I read this chapter on the plane I had to read it again because I enjoyed how this chapter was presented.

Thinking globally, acting locally and learning how to develop your very own elevator speech are covered in this book as well. Overall this book will help readers realize what they are good at and what they are made of which is great for all individuals. There are questions and discussion points throughout the book that will keep you intrigued during your flight.

Book Review #5
"The One Minute Manager"
The World's Most Popular Management Method
Ken Blanchard and Spencer Johnson

"The One Minute Manager "is a practical fun to read on how to treat and get the best results from people. Although this book is in the business section in bookstores, I can see why this book was labeled "the All-Time #1 Bestseller on Managing Your Work and Life, because anyone who reads this book will benefit in the workplace and in their personal lives.

"The One Minute Manager" is about the journey of a young man who is seeking the best management skills to acquire. He finds this special manager, who is referred to in the book as the ole man, and discovers three secrets. Rush and get this book before you get on the plane or get this book in one of the book stores in the airport as you will not be disappointed. After you read this book and arrive at your destination you will either immediately give this book to a colleague to read or you will go and buy a few more copies of this book to give away.

The information I used to complete a mini review on each book was taken from the following books:
"The Go Giver "by Bob Burg and John David Mann
"Leadership 101" by John C. Maxwell
"The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz
"Who Are You" by Stedman Graham
"The One Minute Manager" by Ken Blanchard and Spencer Johnson
