How to Do Your Make Up in 5 Minutes

It's happened to all of us at some point, we've woken up really late and have about thirty minutes before we need to leave the house, putting on a full face of make up I a short space of time takes practise, but it can be done. You just need to figure out where you could shave some time off so you can either get to work early or have a few extra precious minutes in bed!

Whether you woke up late or you just can't be bothered to spend too long applying your make up, you can get a polished, sophisticated finish to your face in five minutes.

Foundation: If you use a liquid foundation, make sure your skin is completely dry before you attempt to apply it. Squeeze a little onto the pads of your fingers and gently rub into your skin, make sure that you blend thoroughly.

If you use a powder, don't use the sponge, use a large round bristle brush, sweep onto the powder, shake to remove the excess (don't touch it as this will transfer any dirt from your hands onto the brush) Use small circles to brush the powder onto your skin. This will only take about 30 seconds.

Blusher or Bronzer: Use a large round brush for bronzer; apply using medium sized circular motions. Apply to the places on your face that would naturally catch the sun; the end of your nose, the top of your cheeks and across your brow bone.

Use a large brush for blusher, apply to the plumpest part of your cheeks using small circular motions and blend thoroughly

Mascara: Choose a mascara that has lash-curling properties, that way you will not have to curl your eyelashes beforehand, but you will still get the same wide awake look. Choose one that is also "anti clumping" if you can't find one of these, hold the mascara wand out of the tube for 30 seconds, this should help reduce the risk of clumps.

Eyeshadow: Choose a light eyeshadow if you are in a hurry, darker colours will show up mistakes a lot more. Use a small bristle brush to apply a light shimmery colour over the eyelid and blend thoroughly. Apply a slightly darker colour to the eyelid (still nothing too dark) and blend into the crease.

Eyeliner: If you are in a hurry, but you ant to wear eyeliner, skip the liquid liner, this requires a very steady hand to achieve an even line. Use a pencil liner on your lower lashes, draw close to the lash line stopping underneath the centre of your pupil.

Lipstick: If you are in a hurry, you may want to skip the lipstick and opt for a gloss, you don't need to do as much preparation to your lips with a gloss as you do with a lipstick and you would be amazed at the difference it can make. If you cant live without lipstick, choose one that is not too dark and make sure it is long lasting.

Highlighter. If you don't have time for blusher or bronzer, opt for a highlighter, not only will it make your face look glowing and awake, it will also define your cheekbones and your brow bone .Apply to the tops of your cheeks and across your brow bone with your fingertips and blend thoroughly.
