A Muslims faith is based on principle teaching, beliefs, and practices in which one is guided by Allah (swt) It was relayed by Imam Bukhari, that the Prophet Muhammad said, "No prayer is accepted without ablution. " The word Ablution or Wudu means to remove. Remove dirt, filth, and other impurities etc.
It was also said by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that the parts of the body of the Muslim washed in ablution will shine on the Day of Resurrection and the Angels till call them Al-Ghurr-ul-Muhajjalun. In Arabic this means People of shinning body parts, because their body parts would be shining due to them making the ablution.
Allah (swt) says in the Quran. Oh you who believe , when you intend to offer salat (prayer) wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, rub your heads , by passing wet hands over them, and wash your feet up to the ankles three times.
The ablution can be done at a sink, or simply with a bowl of fresh clean water. Pure clean water which may include water that is from the tap, or water from a river, lake or the like.
If no water is to be found, one simply pats ones hands on the dirt of the earth, dusts his or her hands, and proceeds with the ablution.
• Washing the hand three times
• Sipping water and spitting it out
• Inhaling water into the nose and blowing it out
• The face is washed with two hands with a handful of water
• Washing the arms up to the elbows
• Passing the hands over the head, ears and neck
• And lastly the feet up to the ankles
When first waking up in the morning one is to make the ablution on bare skin; however throughout the day one may make the ablution over a head scarf, socks, etc.
And his or her ablution is valid until one breaks the ablution by either:
1. Sleeping
2. Passing Gas
3. Urinating
4. Defecating
If one has had relations with one's spouse, a full Ghusl is to be completed. This complete bathing includes the right side of the body, the private areas, the left side of the body, and then the ablution while sitting in a tub, or standing in a shower.
