How AC Works for Me

Getting Paid to Be Smart

Racheline Maltese
For me, as an arts professional who doesn't always have a luxury of a steady paycheck, Associated Content allows me to fill in the gaps in my income, and the flexibility it provides is not just ideal but necessary to my life as an actor Not having to work late shifts in restaurants or bars is as valuable to me as not being chained to a desk job that would prevent me from auditioning and working.

Associated content also allows me to put my expertise to work. Since my academic degree is in journalism, some sort of writing job is a natural fit for me, but Associated Content is fantastic because of the variety of topics I can write on. I've covered acting industry advice for beginners, tips on visiting New York for tourists who may come with misconceptions and lots and lots of information abut celiac disease, a common but often undiagnosed auto-immune disorder that I live with. I've also written about fun stuff such as the world of Harry Potter fan activities and information in vintage dance events.

Writing for Associated Content and its partner sites has meant that my work has been seen on lots of major, mainstream website, and that's helped me get other writing gigs on-line. I've written columns on SF/F media for several sites and I've been able to parlay this combination of gigs into everything from convention appearances to a book deal.

As a jack-of-all trades, I've always joked that I just want a job where people pay me to be smart. At Associated Content, that's exactly what I've got.
