Simple Additions to Create Spring and Summer Styles

A white button-up shirt is a staple when it comes to clothing and due to its simplicity it can be dressed up or down to suit any occasion. Suddenly, your plain white button up-can become a sexy ensemble with no more than a few simple accessories and can be worn through the spring and summer. Creating an elegant or fun look can be done with some very minor additions and can change the look of your button-up several times over. Here are some ways to re-create your white button-up shirt into a spring and summer essential.

Rolled-up Sleeves

Simply rolling up sleeves on a long sleeve button-up can turn your winter blouse into a three quarter sleeve spring top.

Scarves

There are several styles of scarves on the market and any one of them can change the look of your white top. A short handkerchief style scarf in bright colors can bring your button-up to life. To outdated for you? Instead, add a mid-calf to floor length scarf in a one single color like tangerine, marigold and poppy or in gradated color, bold stripes and florals.

Costume Jewelry

Not being able to afford a 14 karat gold bangle should not hinder you from adding a bold piece of jewelry to your button up. Affordable silver bangles, semi-precious gemstones or strands of coral can lift the spirit of your shirt. Besides coral or turquoise pairing strands of multi-colored Biwa pearls can create a style you won't find on every corner. A bold silver cuff will update your blouse and look great with other items in your wardrobe. If you prefer subtle style jewelry check out the many styles of chandelier earrings. Wear wire chandeliers with citrine or lemon quartz drops and swept back hair to evoke a polished spring statement.

Belts

The use of a belt is not only a way to spruce up your converted spring blouse but an easy way to cinch your waist; creating the illusion of a smaller waistline. The designers have created belts in ultra thin to uber wide designs giving limitless options for the belted trend. Not only can they be found in several widths but with an expanse of designs to satisfy any palette.

Colorful Camisoles

Camisoles are part of every spring and summer wardrobe. They are sold in an assortment of colors and depending on the designer can be purchased with adjustable straps. A camisole can single handedly turn your button up into an unbuttoned over shirt. Buttoning the two buttons just below the bust line will create a deep v-style blouse and a fitted look.

Cardigans

Wearing a cardigan over a simple white button up can take an office statement and transform it into a beach look with a pair of flops and capri's. Don't have a cardigan? An easy way to get around this issue is to take a thin, light weight cotton sweater and place it over your shoulders to create the same style. This can even be done with a thin turtleneck by folding the neck down. No one will be able to see that it's a turtleneck and you created a fun fashion all the while.
