Tip #2 Be Organized - Don't just tell your potential employer that you are organized, show them. Arrive to your interview at least 10 min early. This will give you time to pull your thoughts together and prepare mentally for your interview. During this time go over your answers and thoughts regarding the position in your head. Showing up early also shows the employer that you won't rush in the door at the last minute to start your workday. It sends the message that you will come in early and be ready to work when the workday begins.
If you are asked to bring items such as additional resumes, place them in a neat and clean folder. Make sure they are on the top so when asked for them you don't have to thumb through as if you have to look for them. The document should be on clean quality paper.
Tip #3 Be Prepared- There are tons of sites that list interview questions. Employers are aware of this and they are starting to stray for the traditional interview questions. Others are continuing to stay with the questions, but are looking for answers that are not traditional or plagiarized. Be prepared to answer questions regarding your strengths and weaknesses. Do not use answers that would deter the interviewer from hiring you i.e. you are not a team player or you do not like to work with people. Trying something like you over analyze. This shows the interview that you take pride in your work and you care about how others perceive it. Use answers that are specific and that you can give examples for.
Tip #4 Show Them You Are Serious- Give them a one year, 2-3 year and 5 year plan regarding the position. Many employers ask what are your career goals and how the position fits with in your career goals. An example of a good answer would be. In one year I plan to have mastered the current job responsibilities. I will be looking to see what leadership positions are available within the department. If you are applying for an entry level position the next step up may be a team lead. With in two years I would like to be promoted to manager and after five years supervisor. Show your potential employer that you are serious about helping the company as well as your self grow, Make sure that you mention that you have your goals written somewhere.
