How to Achieve Happiness (Part I )

Zenovia B.
Everyone in life wants to achieve happiness. Happiness is having, showing or causing great pleasure or joy. Happiness is what you feel when what you want to happen happens.

So to achieve happiness you must get the things that you want. Last night at the Grammy's I'm sure that Taylor Swift and Beyonce Knowles achieved some measure of happiness, because they wanted to win at the Grammy's and they did so in abundance. But once they achieved this want, that in turns creates another want and another goal is set. So did they really achieve real happiness?

According to self growth.com, "Every moment of our lives we keep on wanting something or the other. If we could make a list of all the things we want in our lives since childhood to death, including trivial as well as important, all the paper in the world would not be enough for this purpose. Only a small percentage of all our wishes is fulfilled in spite of our endeavors. The percentage of wishes, which remain unfulfilled, keeps on growing with time. As a result, as we grow old, we become more and more unhappy. We grow tired of life. The blessings, which our lives and the whole existence. Keep showering upon us, gradually lose their charm. The frustration of failing to fulfill most of our wishes, sets in. We started feeling weighed down. The feeling that the whole life is somehow conspiring to keep us unhappy, grows. Life becomes full of miseries. We keep stumbling from one failure to another."

Psychologist think they have found the key to happiness, they found that when a person's mind and body is stretched in a volunteer purpose, happiness is achieved.

For years I have been depressed and unhappy wanting this and wanting that. Finally I begin to realize something my grandmother who has passed, had been telling me for years....."A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." The meaning of this was stop looking at what you don't have and concentrate on what you do have. Be content with your life now.

Real happiness comes from being content with your lot in life.
