How to Acquire an Honorary Degree

Rik Rodriguez
Like many of us who have received a college degree or a certificate of completion from a technical school. We have spent long hours and usually 1000s of dollars to receive our diploma. Only to find out that we may have difficulty finding a job in our chosen profession. Certainly there are many factors in landing a job from having good grades and being able to apply the knowledge you have learned to having recent experience in you field.

Some of us have had life experiences that are more valuable than text book learning. While conventional learning can be a good foundation for a chosen job or profession. Nothing can replace first hand experience. Like so many of us that didn't take the time to get a so called formal education we still at times need to be able to show that we have interest, experience and proficiency in other areas. But maybe no formal education in that field. While some may be skeptical of acquiring and utilizing an honorary degree. I can say from first hand experience that my honorary degree has been more valuable than all my other formal degrees.

Living in a society that values the printed word more than your actions and skills would point to what I call building credentials. Building credentials from formal education life experiences and honorary degree sources will put you ahead of your co-workers. For years I have collected letters of recommendation from several employers and business contacts and friends. This has built a record of my experiences over many years. Receiving an honorary degree from your chosen source can take several different courses. Some require documentation and others do not. Most require a fee to receive your degree and many do require some sort of proof of proficiency in the field. While others do not have a stringent requirement and an honorary degree can be acquired very easily.

If you make an online search for honorary degrees you will find several universities that will give you a degree without very much effort. I have used my degree many times. In fact it landed me a job as president of a company because the owner thought I was more knowledgeable than he was. He spent thousands of dollars and many years to receive his degree, While I spent only a few hours and less than one hundred dollars to acquire mine. These degrees are to be used with discretion . I like to tell an prospective employer that I have an honorary degree. I also include it on the application. Sometimes I have omitted that the degree is honorary. Some will not respect the paper because most do not understand building credentials Others will accept the degree just like any other degree. You will find that acquiring a degree will be easy and using it responsibly will be easy also.
