Have you used lipsticks to add color to your lips and have found that the color just doesn't seem to last? Does your lipstick fade fast? I have got the perfect remedy for you- good old fashioned red food coloring.
Let me begin by telling you the story about how I discovered that food coloring can be a great substitute for lipstick or used as a lipstick stain. When I was much younger, I learned many things from my mother. She is an expert on beauty and there are so many things that I have been taught about cosmetics, such as how to apply them, that I learned from my mother. I remember when I used to watch my mother apply cosmetics to her face and desired so much to learn everything she knew about it. My mother looked so beautiful before and after she would apply make-up to her face.
Now, one of the unique things that I learned from my mother was the art of applying red food coloring to the lips. Using red food coloring leaves a reddish tint to the lips and the shade isn't a bright red, but a very subtle shade of red.
I also learned from my mother that the red stain that is left from the food coloring will last all day long and it will not come off after drinking a cup of coffee or tea. I noticed that even if she ate something, the red stain would remain. I thought that this was so fantastic. Now mind you, when my mother showed me this method, it was at a time when the cosmetic companies had not come out with lipsticks that would stay on your lips for any length of time.
The color red is the best choice of food coloring to stain the lips because any other color will not look as good.
This is how you apply the food coloring to your lips:
Take a cotton swab and dip it in the bottle of food coloring, then gently glide the applicator over the top and bottom lip. If you would like the color to be more intense, you can apply a second application. I would not advise that you apply the red food coloring with your finger, unless you want to have a red stained finger. Using a cotton swab works best.
The finished result will be perfectly red stained lips with a color that will last all day.
If you want to be really daring you can also apply a dab of Vaseline over your lip stain to give a finished, polished glow to the lips.
Another thing that you may want to try is applying red food coloring to your lips first and then apply your favorite red lipstick over the lip stain. The color will still last a much longer time on your lips, because of the added benefit of food coloring.
So, if you want a lip color that will last all day long, why not try red food coloring for a lipstick that can really stand the test of time.
You can find red food coloring online and at many grocery stores around the country.
