How to Add Color to Your Wardrobe for Transitional Seasons and Summer

Although it's still very cold in some areas, the days are lengthening and soon the severe winter storms will be replaced by sunshine and bold blooms. The added color will be greatly received and a reminder that it's time to add color into your wardrobes. Though dreary winter months can cause you to wear darker colors, the change in season is a time to add those bright pieces into your clothing. Add color to your wardrobe easily with the items you already have or with a few new transitional pieces to carry you through the months that are neither hot nor cold but just right. Plan to rev up your wardrobe with colorful items such as these.

Scarf

Replace your heavy scarves with lighter weight scarves in solid colors or one with a bold pattern. Luckily, scarves can be worn all year long; even with short sleeve shirts and dresses. A thin woven scarf dresses up a plain shirt or a three quarter sleeve jacket very easily.

Necklaces

Simply add a necklace to your outfit to change your entire appearance. Choose an item that looks great with the heavy winter clothes but will transition you through Spring and Summer. For example; glass beads and oblong pearls are popular and will uplift your outfit but remember to choose a color and style that will make you feel confident yet stands out against the back drop of your clothing. Necklaces created from turquoise are an example of a bright color that compliments earthy hues and looks good on most skin tones.

Hand Bags

Try to add a bright hand bag to your attire if you prefer to stick to your dark clothing. Are you unsure of the color to choose? Color forecasting and fashion shows lead the way in what colors will be popular so if you're not a "trendsetter" just look at what's available. A store with 30 handbags in bright green is a good sign that bright green is the hot color for the season. However; if you aren't on a disposable income add color to your wardrobe by choosing a color that will not be outdated within two months. For example; apple green may be hot for Spring but a single shade darker in a slightly heavier material will last you an entire year.

Hats

Bold hats add personal style to any outfit as long at the shape fits your face well and the color doesn't wash you out. Whether the hat has a large brim or is a simple cap for outdoor activities remember that it's still an accessory. Hats made of medium weight material will last for many months so choose a color that keeps it seasonable for longer. Dressier hats, on the other hand, may not be exactly what you're looking for. In this case tie a bright scarf around the top to create a multi-colored theme for warmer months and remove the scarf when you want to settle in for winter weather.
