How to Add an Email Signature to the Android Phone

At this point, almost everyone has seen the "Sent from my iPhone" signature. Most phones these days include the ability to include a signature. The Android Operating System offers similar settings for emails, but these are not enabled by default. Pretentiousness isn't the only reason to include a signature advertising your phone. Including the fact that you are emailing from your mobile device is a quick way to inform the recipient that you are away from your desk. This also gives you more leeway for typos and punctuation errors which are more common on mobile devices, especially when you are in a rush. Adding an email signature to Gmail, which is Android's default email client, is a relatively easy process.

How to Add an Email Signature to the Android Phone

Tap the "Gmail" icon on your Android phone to open your Gmail Inbox. Click on the "Menu" button. Then select "Settings."

Click "Signature," which is the first option in the menu. In the empty text box that opens up, enter the desired signature. Then click "OK."

When you compose your Gmail message, after entering the recipient and subject, the signature will appear at the end of the body of the message and you will have the option to delete it, modify it or send the email with the signature.

Keep in mind that adding a signature to your Gmail account on your Android phone will not affect your signature within Gmail on your computer. You can still create a separate signature in your Gmail account on your computer, which will be displayed on any messages sent from your computer.

There are several other useful settings within the Gmail app on your phone, such as "Confirm/Delete," which requires confirmation before deleting an email, thereby preventing you from accidentally deleting wanted emails. You can also enable "Email Notifications" which will alert you of new emails in your status bar. You can also select a ringtone and/or vibration to notify you when new emails have arrived.
