How to Add Fiber to Your Diet

Adding more fiber to your diet is a wonderful way to become more healthy. There are so many ways to accomplish this. Here are some tips to get you started.

There are many, many food products that are now adding fiber to the list of ingredients. You can use margarine, jelly, yogurt, and lots of other items that now have a large portion of the daily recommended amount of fiber. Using several of these can add a significant amount of fiber to your diet.

There are also food brands that are made especially for people who want to add fiber to their diets. Fiber One and Fiber Plus are two that have multiple products in their line. They have cereals, breakfast bars, and more to help you get more fiber. There are also several types of high fiber oatmeal. And, a good way to get more fiber is to choose a type of bread that is has a high content.

You can also use powdered fiber. There are several types that you add to liquid and have no taste. This type of fiber can also be added into any recipe that has a small amount of liquid. This will add fiber without having to drink it. It is an easy way to get your entire family more of the fiber that will help them be healthier.

Eating foods that are naturally high in fiber is also a great way to get more in your diet. Raspberries have 8 grams per cup and are a delicious addition to cereal, yogurt, and many other desserts. A pear with the skin has over five grams and an apple with the skin has over 4. Cooked split peas have an amazing 16 grams per cup. And, cooked lentils or black beans have 15 grams per cup. There are many foods you can add to your diet to get more fiber. The easiest way to find out what these are is to do a search on the internet.

One thing you need to be sure of is to drink plenty of water. If you add fiber to your diet and do not give it a vehicle to help it get through your body, your body will get stopped up. And, you will be miserable. So, be sure to drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day, to stay healthy and keep your bodily systems moving smoothly.

Adding fiber can help you become more healthy. It can also help you lose weight, if that is a goal you are working towards. Hopefully, these tips will help you add more fiber to your diet.
