While some women are born with naturally voluminous hair, others have to work at it. I'm one of those women who have to work at it. If I don't, it will just look flat and boring. Luckily, there are a lot of products and styling techniques that can turn fine hair into full, voluminous hair. If your hair needs more volume, here are some ways to get it.
Use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner
Always use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner if your hair is fine. They will make your hair clean and soft without weighing it down. Start off by massaging the shampoo into your scalp to wash off the dirt and oil. After you rinse it off, apply the conditioner to just your ends. Allow the conditioner to sit in your hair for three minutes before washing it off.
Apply a volumizing mousse to your hair
A volumizing mousse does a good job at lifting fine hair. Apply a quarter-sized amount of mousse to your roots and gently rub it in. Be careful not to apply too much so your hair doesn't become hard.
Blow-dry your hair upside down
Turn your hair upside down and blow-dry the roots. Keep brushing your hair with a round brush as you are drying your hair. When you flip your hair back over, it will look much fuller.
Use Velcro curlers
A very simple way to get volume in your hair is to just put Velcro curlers in your hair. And they won't damage your hair because they don't contain any heat. Separate your hair into sections and roll each section straight up with a Velcro curler until it rests securely against your head. Leave them in your hair for 30 minutes before taking them out.
Use a flat-iron
Yes, a flat-iron can actually boost the volume in your hair. As you straighten each strand of hair, make sure to draw the flat-iron inward. When you are done, your hair will look very full.
Tease your hair
Tease your roots with a teasing comb to give your hair more volume on top. You can buy a teasing comb at your local beauty supply store.
Get layers
Many women get layers in their to get more volume. Layers will add lift and volume into your hair, making it easier to style. Ask your stylist to cut shorter layers all around your head to give you the best volume.
