How to Add a PayPal Tip Jar to Your Website

C.B. Jones
PayPal is a polarizing entity in the world of online shopping. Some love the service because they love Ebay, some hate it because of PayPal's "it's your own stupid fault" stance when it comes to people gaining unauthorized access to accounts via spoof emails. Both sides can agree on one absolute fact regarding this service. That fact is that people from all walks of life have a PayPal account, and they might want more money in said account.

First thing's first, you have to log on to your PayPal account. You can't just cross your eyes, stick your tongue out and make funny noses and expect to get results.. Type in your email address and password with caution. one false keystroke will create a negative void that will engulf you and your loved ones for all eternity!

Not really, but the ninja's that hide in your sock drawer may be looking over your shoulder as.you type.

After accessing your account, click on the tab on the top of the tag titled "Merchant services". Under the "Create Buttons" section of page, you'll find the word "Donate". I'm thinking you should click that link. Otherwise, you'll have a tough time following along with everything else I explain in this guide.

the Donation page has fiends that let you edit currency(USD, AUD, etc.), the appearance of your button and other things. Put whatever you want under Organization name/service. Contribution amount can either be fixed to a certain value(no higher/lower than X dollars), or left up to the users who donate.

After filling in the queried information, scroll down and click on "Create Button". Copy and pain the html code to the side menu or dedicated page on your website.

Hi! Thanks for thie info. I was wondering, I've read articles online that say the "donate" button can only be used by a chartiy or other non profit organization. Is that true?

Or can I set up a "tip jar" on my blog, and easily withdraw funds when (if) I get tips.

    Just wondering. Thanks.

I disagree with your criticism, Samuel. I'm not going to apologize for having a personality. Sure, I could have written this article out as a textualized version of dry toast, but didn't want to fall asleep during the process. The second half of this piece(after the part about the void opening if you failed to log on correctly) is focused on the meat and potatoes of the mechent service. My little playful quips don't get in the way at all. Perhaps you could just reread the parts of this article which you find to be helpful, and ignore the comedic parts that may have come off to you as insulting/confusing?

Kind of hard to follow along with for such a simple process. Would have been better without the wisecrack commentary and with some more editing.
