How to Add Scent to Hand Sanitizer

Search the Internet for ways to concoct homemade hand sanitizer and you will find countless recipes and methods. Considering the time and expense involved, it is not worth making. It is cheaper and far easier to buy inexpensive ready-made hand sanitizer and add a scent of your choice. Small bottles with scent and added moisturizers sell for about a dollar per ounce in bath and body product stores.

Use my method to add scent to hand sanitizer instead of buying expensive ready-made varieties, and save a considerable amount of time and money. Best of all, you can create just about any fragrance imaginable, and it can include small flecks of glitter. I added scent and body glitter to budget germ-killing gel, and I liked it more than the expensive products that I had purchased from high end stores.

Add Scent and Moisturizer to Cheap Hand Sanitizer

To make the best scented germ-killing, moisturizing product for less than those available in stores, begin by combining several drops of essential oil with a cheap brand of hand sanitizer. Shake or stir the mixture until it is thoroughly blended. Add a little at a time until achieving the desired intensity.

Essential oil is concentrated, and it does not take much to create a highly scented product. I added three to four drops of essential oil to each ounce of hand sanitizer, and the scent level was ideal for my personal preference. I used 100% pure top-quality essential oil to create the scent.

Add Cosmetic Grade Glitter

Hand sanitizer does not require additives to kill germs, but fine glitter adds a unique touch, especially if it is a gift. To make glitter-infused scented hand sanitizer, add a small amount of cosmetic grade glitter before transferring the finished product to plastic bottles. It will look like an expensive skin care product.

Store it in Small Plastic Bottles

Using a small funnel, I poured the finished hand sanitizer with scent and glitter into small plastic bottles with tight fitting lids. I ordered the bottles online, and I printed homemade labels to indicate each scent. Friends and family loved it.

I had a great time mixing various essential oils to achieve a unique new scent. My favorite was vanilla combined with cinnamon. Even though it still had the faint scent of alcohol, the smell was absolutely heavenly. I plan to make more for holiday gift baskets, birthdays and more.
