How to Add Volume to Your Hair

In this article, I will be teaching you how to add a lot of volume to your do'. Adding volume to your hair can be difficult sometimes, especially if you have fine hair, because the hair tends to release the lift and drop it flat. Not good. So I've tried a couple different techniques to keep my hair bigger and off my scalp, and now I want to share the best with you.

First we are going to start off with a fresh canvas. Get out your everyday hairbrush and brush your hair all over and then flip your hair upside and brush underneath your hair. After you have finished brushing your hair out, shampoo and condition it as you normally would. Why do you need to brush your hair out before you shampoo and condition? Brushing your hair out before washing it helps loosen any dirt, dead skin, etc. from your hair strands and scalp, thus making it easier for you to get it out when you're in the shower.

Now that you have clean hair, blow dry it well and make sure it's not damp in the slightest bit. Hair that is weighed down by water, no matter how little, will stay close to your scalp. So make sure you get all that water off your head. Run your fingers under your hair and raise upwards when drying. Doing so will add more volume.

To get the highest amount of volume, I suggest getting large hot rollers and placing them all throughout your hair. You don't need to go to the point of placing them so closely together that they're touching, but put them all throughout the hair. If you don't want curly hair while adding volume to your hair, don't leave the curlers in very long. Use a pick to comb out your hair after you have removed the curlers.

Now get out a volume hairspray and begin styling. If you would like straight hair with a little more volume, pull the hair toward the ground and spray with hairspray. If you would rather a tossed look, simply tease your hair upwards when adding hairspray.

To finish it all off, get a comb and lightly raise your roots and spray with hairspray. You can also tease the back-crown of your head by raising that area straight up and combing downward-underneath, with a comb. After you have finished your styling, give your entire hair a quick-light spray of hairspray.

And that's how you add volume to your hair! Good luck and have fun!
