How to Adjust the Oven Temperature Calibration on a Maytag Freestanding Electric Range/Stove

Model #MERH752BAW with the Digital Clock

Kassidy Emmerson
I realized there was a problem with the oven part of my Maytag range/stove when foods weren't getting completely done in the middle. That meant the temperature of the oven was actually lower than what I set it at. I bought an oven thermometer, did some tests, and my suspicions were confirmed. The actual temperature was much lower than the set temperature. Rather than pay for a service call, you can save yourself a chunk of change if you learn how to adjust the oven temperature calibration on a Maytag freestanding electric range/stove yourself. It's not hard to do.

1. Press the BAKE button. Use the MORE button to set the oven temperature to 550 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Press the BAKE button again and hold it down for several seconds until you see "0 degrees" in the display window. If the Maytag Freestanding Electric Range/Stove calibration has already been changed from the factory setting, the new number it was set at will appear in the window instead.

3. Press the MORE or LESS buttons to adjust the oven temperature either lower or higher. Each touch of the pads increases or decreases the temperature by 5 degrees.

When you have finished adjusting the oven temperature calibration, the time will automatically reappear on the display.

Before You Adjust the Oven Temperature Calibration On A Maytag Freestanding Electric Range/Stove-
Be sure to check the thermostat sensing bulb that's located inside an oven, according to Daves Repair.com. If the bulb isn't securely fastened in its mounting, it could be touching the metal oven wall. That would throw off the temperature.

Important Notes
As an oven gets older, the temperatures can change. What you set the oven at, and the actual temperature can be off several degrees. This can affect the results you get when you bake foods. You can adjust the oven temperature calibration on a Maytag freestanding electric range/stove to fix this problem.

However, if the temperature is off 35 degrees Fahrenheit or more, the oven probably needs repaired, according to Appliance 411.com. Adjusting the oven temperature calibration won't fix the problem.

I didn't know about this. Thanks for the suggestions. On a side note, I wish I could convert oven temperatures to Celsius on my oven. About 99% of my cookbooks are British, and it's a little frustrating when I don't know what the temperatures are in Fahrenheit.
