If you are looking to adopt a new cat or kitten, there a few places that you can go to. The first place you could go to is a local animal shelter. They have lots of cats and kittens that are waiting to be adopted. You will have to fill out an adoption form.
The adoption form will usually ask how many pets you have, where you live, if you have children, etc. These questions help the shelter so that they can adopt the cats out to proper homes.
Another place to look for a cat or kitten would be under the Pets section, on Craigslist. There are many pets listed there for adoption. A lot of the the people who place ads on Craigslists are foster parents for shelters. This gives you a better idea of the personality and temperment of the cat because the foster parent takes care of the animal in their own home.
Petfinder.com is a website where you could go to find a specific breed of cat or kitten. Petfinder has a search engine where you can look up a specific breed, age, color and gender of the cat or kitten you are looking for.
Petfinder.com has many cats and kittens that are available for adoption in or around your area. You will usually see a picture of the cat or kitten, a description and a way to contact the person or shelter placing the adoption ad. Also, they may have an online adoption form that you can fill out and send back.
Some local pet shops have cats for adoption that are being sponsored through shelters and cat rescue groups. You could check your local pet shop for more information.
A lot of times when you adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue group, as opposed to a breeder or a regular pet shop, the pet is already neutured/spayed and up to date on all their shots. They usually have an adoption fee, but the fee is reasonable, especially for what you are getting.
Adopting a cat or kitten will be a great new addition to your home. It would also help shelters and rescue groups because they are overpopulated with cats and kittens.
