How to Make Adorable Baby Shower Centerpieces in Less than an Hour

Did you hear the news??

So, your best friend's having a baby (r, your sister, daughter, co-worker). Whatever the case may be, you're in charge of the shower. Of course, you want it to be cute and classy, but you're not Martha Stewart, and those centerpieces you've been looking at online cost a fortune! Here's the solution: Make your own in less than an hour with this easy tutorial.

Get it together.

Your first job is to gather everything you need:

Clip art matching the shower theme-for the example we used a duck-you could use a diaper, pacifier, baby, etc.

White cardstock

Coordinating scrapbook paper

Adhesive or glue

Coordinating ribbon

Empty, clean baby food jars with lids removed

Sugar or salt

Clean, dry Popsicle sticks

Next.....

You'll want to enlarge or shrink the clip art image to about 3 in. x 3 in. Print the image on the cardstock, once for each centerpiece you'll need. Cut around the image and glue it to the scrapbook paper. Trim around the image so you've got about a ¼" border of paper. Repeat this process, this time glueing to the cardstock.

That was easy, right? Then...

Apply some glue to a little less than half the length of one side of a Popsicle stick. Press it firmly to the back bottom of your image. Repeat with each image. While these are drying, cut a length of ribbon about twice as long as it takes to go around the rim of the baby food jar, and tie around the jar in a bow. Repeat for each jar.

Putting it all together...

After the glue attaching the sticks is dry, fill each jar ¾ full with sugar. Firmly place the Popsicle stick with attached image in the sugar, putting one image in each jar. You're done...sit back and admire your adorable baby shower centerpieces.

Variations:

Using contrasting thread and a sewing machine, stitch 1/8" away from the image on the scrapbook paper.

Color some of the sugar with a coordinating food dye and swirl in stripes of color as you fill the jars.

Apply clear scrapbooking stickers with baby words and phrases to the jars before filling.
