How to Afford Luxury on a Budget

The art of the deal is what separates a good lifestyle from ones that aren't so good. Not everyone is rich; some people just think rich, and therefore their life is better. Everyone can afford luxury on a budget; you just have to know where and when to look, and be prepared to strike when the iron is hot. Here's how to afford luxury on a budget, even yours, and increase the quality of your life.

To afford luxury on a budget, buy things in the offseason. This goes for clothes, cars, food, everything. This doesn't necessarily mean it's out of style. Certain cars keep the same body styling for many years, as do clothes. You can't tell the difference. If they add a new gadget you absolutely must have, you can buy that singly. Trust me, they mark it up in the package price. For example: My friend wanted a 2009 370Z. He waited until the end of the year and got $8000 off the purchase price, which easily bought him the extra Bluetooth functionality he wanted. That's definitely how to afford luxury on a budget.

If you're buying in the offseason, and you still can't find any deals, the second thing to do is use the Internet to compare. Don't waste your time leaving the house any more. Everyone always has it for cheaper, and all you have to do is Google and eBay the product you are looking for. Learning to win eBay auctions is amazing, but even if you don't want to learn that, you can still take Google listings, and call each of the stores and play their prices off of each other until you get a sizable discount. To afford luxury on a budget, don't be afraid to negotiate.

If you're buying at the right times, and looking in the right places, the last step to afford luxury on a budget is to look for good credit deals. Even if you can't get the price down, if you are working with a large chain store, you can get 12 months same as cash payment plans that work just as well. Instead of spending all the money up front, invest the money you would have spent. The caveat here is to make sure you pay no matter what. All these same as cash options have an online component now. Put that page in your favorites and set up an alarm in Microsoft Outlook to make sure you don't miss a payment. They only win if you don't pay and then they get to charge you 23% interest. To afford luxury on a budget, use credit correctly.
