At this time and age, science is doing a huge role in making people look beautiful. But what would happen to those who prefer not to have any augmentation or enhancement done to their bodies and faces? Should they just sit, sulk and wait for age to really creep like a thief in the night and steal their self-esteem and sense of joy away?
Some would argue that age is just a chronological thing. So true. It is supposed to define the year you were born on a specific date and it could be just one of the things that you could put as a demographic information about you. Should age really a big issue? Oprah Winfrey actually mentioned once that it would be OK to be honest about your age; lie about your weight instead.
Aging is inevitable. Everyone starts with number one, would be thrilled to be 8, and can't wait to be 13. Soon after, 18 would bring about many changes and responsibilities. But it also spells freedom. Once you hit the 20's, you're in for the major things in life (at least for the majority). And many stop counting once they reach about 26 or 28. You can just laugh about it and say that you lost tract. It is after all really just a chronological thing.
But some would take this issue seriously. There are those who would even go into depression once certain signs seep in. Their skin have lost its smoothness, and the lines are becoming visible. Hair starts to thin, and their crowning glory isn't really giving them the glory that it used to do. The battle with bulges begins to be a major concern. Youth has lost its touch.
Many people could give good tips on aging. Eating a healthy diet tops the list. Doctors say that even if you do not have diabetes, heart conditions or whatever illnesses, people should always opt for a well-balanced and healthy diet. The darker the vegetables, the better. Fruits with antioxidants like berries should be staple. Stay away from trans fat and saturated fat. Avoid too much starch and carbohydrates. Supplement with vitamins.
Regular exercise is a must. People would complain that they simply do not have time. If you would try to find time, there would always be time. Avoid smoking. It is common knowledge that it could bring about lung illnesses and cancers. It robs your skin the moisture that it should have, gives your lips a darker, unhealthy color and gives teeth a bad look.
But the very vital part of aging gracefully is your disposition about it. This is how the cycle of life is designed, and we have to embrace nature taking its course. We should take time to sit down and look at how the years have passed. Sure, many would feel regret about certain failures and mistakes. But there are other things that would always balance the scale. Look at the things that you have achieved and accomplished. There are other things that you can still do and make you feel fulfilled. Don't fret and say that it's too late. Now that you still have time, do it and allow yourself to be involved in it.
Being young is beautiful because of its own reasons. But every stage, every age is important. Everything has their purpose. There is reason and beauty in all. You can have a facial lift and all sorts of job done to your body, yet feel empty. Change the color of your hair or have a wardrobe make-over. Still, your age wouldn't change. It is what is within you that dictates your over-all feeling about the situation. Happiness is always a choice --whether you are 16 or 60.
