Next you need, Winzip and/or WinRAR, both can be found here: http://www.oldversion.com/ These programs will be used to open the files that the games are stored in online.
After you have completed your order of the R4 card, and are waiting for its delivery go to: http://ds.rom-news.org/l47357 use the search to look up titles of Nintendo DS games you wish to download. Pay attention to DL1 DL2 and DL3. Those are the links to sites where you download the zips. You will come across a lot of dead links, but don't get discouraged, after all it's free. Be sure the game you are downloading is U for English, some E games are English too, but don't count on it. JP is Japan and unless you read it, those games will not be any use to you.
The zips will contain a lot of useless crap, nearly all of it spam. The only item in the zip you need is the .nds file. If you are unable to see extensions of files you downloaded, go to any folder on your hard drive, at the top where you see the word file, go over to "Tools" and click folder options. Click "View" UNTICK the "hide extensions for known file types". Click "Apply" then "OK" You should now be able to see the differences in the files.
It will take you several days to download all the games you want/need because they have timers and IP trackers on the amount you can download.
After your R4 card finally comes in the mail, you will have to load the CD to get the firmware off it, and onto your micro SD card. You need to put your micro SD card into the micro SD card reader, and then plug it into your USB port.
Do not plug in the USB card reader first. Put the card in the card reader then plug in the USB card reader. Windows will automatically install the reader.
The files and folders you load from the CD should be as follows:
2 folders: _system_ and moonshl
4 Files: _AX_MENU.DAT _DS_MENU.DAT _DS_MSHL.NDS _R4__III.DAT
However many game files labeled .nds you are placing on the micro SD card.
Right click the icon on the toolbar by the clock on your PC, click safely remove hardware, click stop, then click stop again on USB 2.0 SS MMC Reader USB Device, click ok. It will now say it is safe to remove hardware. Pull the USB card reader from your USB card slot. Remove the micro SD card, and place it into the R4 card. Now place the R4 card into your Nintendo DS. Turn on your Nintendo DS, the screen will say loading then you will see a screen of 3 icons. The first icon is games, the second is multimedia (music as you can load mp3's to your Nintendo DS too), the third icon is the GBA slot.
To find more free games google the name of the game and the word ROM.
Disclaimer: I can not be held responsible for any damaged brought to your computer or Nintendo DS. I am only offering the information, what you do with it is up to you. I am not endorsing you breaking the law to use, and get these free Nintendo games. The R4 card was created for the use of backing up your own Nintendo DS games.
