How Do You Get All-Star Rank at Neopets Altador Cup?

Miss Fortune

Getting to the All-Star Level at Neopets during the Altador Cup always seemed like a complete impossibility to me. This year I got into the event and early and started going up levels a little faster than I thought; when I hit Level 10 -- where I ended up last year I thought "Wow, I could make All Star this year". To get to Level 20 / All Star you need a combination of 2,000 wins. They don't all have to be Yooyuball submissions but that is the preferred way to go about reaching Level 20. There are four games you can play: Yooyuball, Shootout Showdown, Make Some Noise and Slushie Slinger. Each game has a minimum score you need to reach to have the win count towards the game total. Prize shop credits and game points are two different things.

Yooyuball: One win is one game points towards the 2,000 you need to reach Level 20. It equals 12 prize shop credits that you can use when the event is over and the Altador Cup Prize Shop opens. Slushie Slinger: One win (over 300 points) is equal to 1/2 game points but nets you 6 prize shop credits. There are people that can play this for hours, I can handle three or four in a row before I want to stick a fork in my eye. Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown are the two fastest games to play but yield the lowest game points. You need 12 of each game to equal one game point; likewise it also nets you one prize shop credit. These can add up quickly if you can handle the monotony of it.

There are different ways to get to All Star. You can set a goal of playing a certain number of games per day or reaching a certain level; I just played as much as I could when I had the time. The last two levels were the hardest; they each require 150 points / game wins to level up. Once I got to within 50 points of All Star I just plowed through it. There are people that had the All Star rank within the first seven days of the event. That takes hours upon hours of playing every day and often means maxing out a certain game. There are caps for each game; Yooyuball is 300, Slushie Slinger is 600 and the other two are 1,200. That is a lot of time to invest in playing just to have bragging rights that you got the ranking first.
