I was at a meeting a few weeks ago sitting with a colleague who whipped out his Apple iPad 2. Compared to my Hewlett Packard laptop, which I love, and don't plan to replace anytime soon, the Apple iPad 2 was sleeker. The thin lines and flat orientation of the IPad 2 made it easy to use and less intrusive in the small space. Without a desk or table surface, my HP was less agile and not as portable as my colleague's iPad 2. During the meeting, I Googled the online Apple store and drooled over the 16GB iPad 2 for $499. I left the meeting determined to get myself an iPad 2. However, with competing financial priorities, I plan on saving to buy the iPad rather than use a credit card. Typically, I make technology purchases from QVC using their convenient easy-pay option, but buying an iPad was not an option with QVC.
Saving birthday money
This past weekend I had a big birthday. It was one of those milestone birthdays that left you feeling truly blessed for family, health and wisdom. Before the big day arrived, many people asked me about my plans for the big birthday and if I had any special gifts in mind. I made sure to let everyone who cared to ask that I wanted donations towards my new Apple iPad2. Well, I am happy to report that my family didn't disappoint and after Saturday, I am well on my way to saving to buy an iPad2.
Saving my Associated Content payments
Over the past few months, I recommitted myself to writing more articles for Associated Content. I was writing more consistently last year, before I became busy with work and getting kids squared away for college. I did not get back to writing consistently for Associated Content until this month. As it is, I don't write a lot for Associated Content and I don't have millions of page views yet, but every penny will count while I am saving to buy my iPad2. By saving my earnings from Associated Content for writing articles, I am pretty sure I will be able to save enough to have my iPad2.
Saving money in my change jar
Many of you who read my articles know that our two children have gone off to live on college campuses. This makes my husband and I have an empty nest for the time being. As such, I have noticed a wonderful phenomenon in the absence of the teenagers. Change that my husband and I put in the change jar sitting on our kitchen counter actually stays in the change jar. Now that the change jar is not being raided for pizza money, art supplies or the latest CD, I am confident that I should actually be able to use the savings from my change jar to help me purchase my Ipad2.
