How Americans Can Buy American

Support the USA and Keep Your Children Safe

Arthur Kirk
It is time for Americans to support our fellow Americans and purchase products that keep our fellow patriots employed. The website How Americans Can Buy American at howtobuyamerican.com is pushing for all Americans to do this. The website How Americans Can Buy American does seem to have a good idea, but in the end I can't help but feel I've walked into an infomercial. Sure there is the link on the web page where you can sign a petition for getting the U.S. to pass legislation to protect American jobs and encourage citizens to buy American products. There is also plenty of information about the benefits for the country and the American worker if you buy American products.

There is even information on the website pointing out the benefits a buyer experiences when they buy American. Some of these benefits include the ability to know that products are manufactured following U.S. laws regarding the safety of products for our children, and the fact that transportation costs are lower if you purchase products made in the United States. All of this information is true, but I just feel a little uneasy visiting a website that wants me to pay $12.95 for an ebook that will most likely provide information you can find for free on the internet or even just talking with fellow shoppers.

I do support buying American, that is why I will never purchase a car from an overseas manufacturer. I go as far as researching the cars I purchase and the manufacturers that produce them. Don't be fooled into thinking that just because you are purchasing a car from a U.S. manufacturer that your car was made in the United States. You need to research the vehicle and the manufacturer. I also make sure I check the toys that I purchase for my son. He is two years old and I am sick of seeing all the recalls on the toys for children. Yes, there are some U.S. companies that experience recalls, but the large majority are foreign toy manufacturers. Therefore, I will not purchase any product made overseas.

I look for the evidence that a product is made in the USA. If I don't see proof, I might purchase it if it is from a U.S. company that I am comfortable with, whom I've made purchases from the past. I have become very vigilant in making sure I purchase American products. This includes occasionally returning gifts for my son because they are made overseas. My fear is that even if the product isn't recalled currently, we might find out later that it should have been. This is why I buy American and highly recommend you buying American as well. Remember, let's keep the jobs in the country and support our own needy families.

Amen! "I Am an American - Who Are You?" at http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/640901/i_am_an_american.html underscores the importance of Americans in and for America. Too, I also have two "America for Rent" articles which satirize this, and related, conditions in our 21st Century America. Be a True American, Michael

I can tell you the benifit in buying American made products. And that is quality. The stuff we get from china, and any other country, might be cheaper. But it is not as good. We are in a situation were price out weighs quality.
