Allowing real conversations to be interrupted. If you are talking to someone face to face and your phone goes off, why not just let it ring? I don't understand the logic behind making another person wait while you answer your phone or type a reply to a text or email. That phone has multiple ways of storing information so that you don't have to immediately respond to anything, and it's so rude to make the person in front of you stand and wait. It's like getting up to the check-out counter at the store and the clerk decides to make a personal phone call before they ring up your merchandise. If you have someone in front of you, give them your full attention and then check the phone after the conversation is over. People will respect you more.
Talking and driving. This annoying cell phone habit isn't just rude, but it can be deadly. There have been so many times when some idiot pulled out in front of me and I see they have a phone pressed up to their ear while they failed to yield, blew through a stop sign or worse. Some states have already banned texting and driving for obvious reasons, but it may only be a matter of time before talking and driving is outlawed, too.
Cell phones in movie theaters. A trip to the movies can cost nearly ten bucks per person these days, and that's not counting the inflated prices you'll pay for drinks and popcorn. With that in mind, why do some people have to incessantly check their phones while at the theater? With screens getting bigger and brighter, that light shines very brightly in a darkened theater and it's annoying to the people behind them. If you answer a phone call inside a theater, you deserve to be shot. Some theater managers will actually kick people out for this behavior, and you won't get a refund. I think they should be banned like how Wal-Mart bans shoplifters.
Ringtones. Any ringtone that isn't more than a simple beep or tone is annoying to most everyone else but you. Those snippets of your favorite song aren't nearly as cool as you think they are, and keeping the ring volume set loud enough to wake the dead only makes it worse. Bonus points for people who use profane lyrics or sound clips as their ringtone and then let it go off around children. Very classy.
Those silly Bluetooth ear pieces. Hey Star Trek nerds, those things hanging out of your ear aren't nearly as cool as you think they are. Yeah, I know they serve a purpose and all, but you look like an idiot. It's especially funny when others can't see the side of your head and you look like you are talking to yourself. Take the thing out until you need it, or at least wait until the next comic book convention comes to town.
