1. Tell us something about yourself
Be formal. Tell the interviewer basic information about yourself that is related to the job such as the course of your study in college or university and your job experience - whether you have been working for a number of years or you are a fresh job seeker.
Never get into in-depth details about your personal life or other personal things such as your religious belief and your political ideology.
2. Why do you want to work here?
This is where you need to do some detailed research about the company before the interview. The most important thing to know about a company is its core values, beliefs and aims, what they do in the market, their chief directors as well as what who are their main customers and competitors.
Explain how you can contribute to the company as a whole such as "I sincerely believe that I can help to improve the administrative department with my administrative experience and expertise" .Never indulge in self serving reasons, such as "the good pay from this job is what I am looking for".
3. Describe a previous work situation where you...?
This is one of the most important but tricky questions for you, because your interviewers want to see how you will manage any unusual or difficult situations that may occur in your daily workplace.
Don't panic. Stay positive and be honest because this question needs some brain storming, and the interviewers can tell whether you are trying to deceive them or not.
For instance, if it's a customer service officer job, you can explain how you have dealt with angry and unreasonable customers before. Show them that you have the patience and capability to change the situation to make the customers satisfied and happy.
4. Describe your ideal work environment?
This is another difficult question. Again you need to do some research beforehand to find out what their work environment is like and tell them why you see their work environment as ideal for you. An example may be a "family-orientated" work environment where the employee's family is taken into account.
5. Describe your most remarkable achievement?
Your achievements in school, your past work and even some aspects of social and personal life such as your family and your volunteer work can be good answers here. Again, remain formal and never get too personal.
However, if you do, you need to mention how it helps you to do better in your work and gives you more pride in your job. If your greatest success in life is being a great manager, then tell them how you manage your employees and maintain a good working relationship with them, how you motivates them in their work, what types of incentives you provide them and how you try to do your best in their own job scope.
Most interviewers will ask you whether you have any questions for them. This is your chance to show them you are interested to work long-term with them. Do not forget that they are trying to sell you their business model as well and they want to ensure you are interested.
Try to ask about their benefits and promotion opportunity. Also don't forget to ask them real questions related exclusively to the company and give your own views which will make them know that you are really interested to work for them.
6. How do you handle mistakes?
This question is used to test how mature you are, if you are willing to admit your mistakes, and be responsible for those mistakes.
Tell your interviewer that mistakes, either as a team or personal, need to be identified and corrected within the policies and procedure of the company: What procedures are there in place to handle the mistakes? Are there any contingency plans for different mistakes?
For instance, what should be done if someone unintentionally deleted some important data from a computer database? In this case, the contingency plan is very important. How fast can we identify the error, evaluate the impact and find out what is causing it, and recover? You can suggest trying to retrieve from off-site backups and do a restore. Having this contingency plan reduces the impact of the original mistake.
7. Last but not least...
Remember to dress professionally. If you are a man, wear a suit or at least nice slacks, shoes, shirt, pants and a tie. And dress properly if you are a woman.
