Applying bronzer for a natural tan look and to make you glow with summer's sunshine takes some skill. However, you can easily attain that "been in the sun look" with ease and it shouldn't be too costly.

Use the following hints for a great summer tan look to your skin.

1. Exfolliate your skin prior to putting on any type of bronzer. Simply use a rough wash cloth, soft brush, or you can go for more spa types such as loofahs etc. Do not rub your skin too hard and be sure your skin is well soaked prior to the rub-down.

2. Be sure your skin is clean prior to rubbing on any bronzing product.

3. Read entire directions before applying bronzer. If your skin is quite sensitive, it would be best to try the product on a small area before using bronzer on your entire body.

4. Have protection under you so bronzer doesn't stain carpet etc. Apply bronzer lightly. Too much isn't a better thing when applying any tanning lotion. Contrary to what you may think, it will not cover as evenly.

5. When applying bronzer, go slowly and rub it thoroughly into your skin. Check to make sure you don't skip patches as they will be very noticeable when your skin dries.

6. Wash hands with soap when you are finished applying bronzer.

7. There are a variety of bronzer type products available for purchase and they are found from box stores to the cosmetic departments in department stores and more. One of the best is Estee Lauder's Go Bronze. It costs about $30 per bottle. However, if applied carefully, a less expensive product should work fine.

8. For summer tan and glow, use bronzer as a foundation. Again, quit using the product on your face if your skin breaks out.

9. For continued skin coloring, you must continue to apply product every few days or at least every week during the summer. Remember to apply lightly.

10. If you desire a dark tan look, you must re-apply bronzer every day for several days until your skin is the color you want. Then, continue to re-apply as needed during the summer.

Some bronzer products may have smells that both people who are sensitive or allergic. Ask your friends if they have any favorites to help avoid having to purchase several brands before you find a bronzer that works best for you. Yes, it takes time to tan your skin with bronzing products, but you'll never be suffering from skin cancer because you've spent hours in the sun.
