How to Apply Eye Lashes Flawlessly and Effortlessly

Maggie OLeary
False eyelashes are beautiful and elongate and thicken your natural lashes, and beautify your eyes. The new trend is permanent eyelashes, but these can be time-consuming. The cost of this service can also be prohibitive. If you desire the beauty of additional eyelashes but want to apply them yourself, this is a simple process.

Supplies

You'll need to purchase supplies if you don't already have them on hand. Grab a pair of good, high-quality eye lashes. Ardell is a great drugstore brand, while MAC and Shu Uemura are great higher-end brands. Shu Uemura also makes the very best eyelash glue. Toss out the cheap glue that comes with your eyelashes. A lighted magnifying mirror is also helpful.

Preparation

First, wash your hands thoroughly and make sure you rinse all the soap off. Then, prepare your natural lashes. Remove any eye makeup, to include eye shadow, mascara and eyeliner. These will cause your eyelashes to not adhere properly. Use a good makeup remover to make sure you get all the makeup off.

Lash Application

Remove the first lash from the package. Gently hold the ends in your fingertips, and very gently bend the lash back and forth a few times to loosen it up. This will ensure that it contours to your lash line. Then, put a very thin line of glue along the base of the lash. Starting at one corner of your eye (either corner is fine, but for beginners, the inner corner may be a better choice), adhere the lash to the bash of your natural lash line, and gently guide the rest of the last in place. Aim for the area where your natural lash touches your eyelid. It is best to keep your eye closed while you apply the lash, so there are no glue mishaps.Repeat the process with the second lash.

Finish

After you have applied your lashes, curl the false lash and your natural lash together with an eyelash curler. Apply eyeliner, shadow and mascara for a flawless finish.

It may take a few times of practice to get your lashes applied perfectly, but once you get the hang of it, the process becomes quick and painless. Just make sure you use high-quality products and apply your lashes in a clean work area.
