Use a moist sponge to apply foundation to the skin. Wet your sponge, and remove excess water before adding liquid foundation and dabbing on your skin. Apply the foundation to the areas you need it the most, such as dark areas under the eyes, redness around the mouth and nose or to cover up imperfections. Adding foundation to the skin with a damp sponge will give the skin a fresh, airbrushed look. Moistening up the sponge will also reduce the amount of foundation you use, giving you coverage without using too much.
Try using a sheer, tinted moisturizer on the skin instead of a foundation. The tinted moisturizer will add hydration to the skin while covering up imperfections on the skin. Many moisturizers also contain SPF, which is important to add to the skin during days out in the sun.
Dust the skin with a translucent powder to set the foundation and reduce any excess oil on the skin. The powder will keep the skin looking fresh throughout the day, since you may become sweaty while being outdoors or live in a humid climate.
Add bronzer to the cheekbones and forehead to enhance color to the face, but go minimal for the fresh-faced look. Keep the lips subtle, adding a nude lipstick or colored lip-gloss to the lips. If you want bold color, use a lip stain instead of lipstick to keep the look fresh.
For the eyes, keep them fresh and simple by adding either a shimmering eyeshadow or thin eyeliner. For the summer, one or two coats of mascara is all you need to enhance your eyes during the day.
No matter what type of makeup you add to your face during the summer, keep it fresh by using creamy cosmetics. Crème blush, bronzer, eye color and foundation glide onto the skin smoothly, leaving behind a radiant and hydrated complexion. During the day, freshen up the skin by spritzing it with a grape water formula, which will add hydration to the skin without making the cosmetics run off the skin.
During the summer, embrace your carefree spirit not only with your fashion, but also makeup application. Less is more, so spend less time doing your makeup and more time outdoors near the pool or beach.
