How to Make Arem Arem, an Indonesian Authentic Snack

This recipe is definitely more difficult than the usual recipes that I wrote, and one of the requirements to make this food is sheet of banana leaves must be available. You can use aluminum foil, but I do not know the result in the end, for me a banana leaf is the material that can not be abandoned for this recipe. Name of this food is Arem Arem. Arem Arem is one of my favorite snacks. For main content inside you can fill it with any kind of meat that you like.

Here is the ingredient that you need

500 gram rice, washed and drained it

300 ml of coconut milk

700 ml of water

1 tsp salt

2 sheet of Salam leaves/ Curry leaves

Content Ingredient

350 gr minced meat, you can use ground beef

1 carrot, cut into dice kecil2

10 green bean, sliced

300 ml of milk

1 tomato and cut it

salt and sugar according to taste

50 ml olive oil need to

Spices

4 cloves garlic

4 cloves onion

5 red chilies

2 cm of galangal

10 cm of lemon grass

Other material

Banana leaves, cut around 10x20 cm, if the leaves is rigid, put in first in hot water

How to make

Content

1. Rice mixed with water, coconut milk, salt, and salam leaves, boil with medium fire until the rice is quiet soft. Occasionally stirred because the coconut milk beneath the pot will cooked quickly.

2. Puree all spices become one, you can use blender for it. Heat the oil until quiet hot and put the spices until smell fragrant, put tomatoes and meat. Stir it until the water running out.

3. Put the carrot and coconut milk, stir well, boiled it with small fire until coconut milk running out.

4. Prepare the banana leaves, take the rice, Put it in the middle, push it until solid and wider

5. Fill with 1 tbsp of meat mix content, roll the rice.

6. Press and roll the leaf until solid

7. Fold it on both sides.

8. Steam 1 hour. Serve it when it got colder.
