For freelance writers, it has meant a new specialty that has its own problems and rewards. Creating several versions of the same content can be extremely time consuming when a writer first starts out, and many writers won't do it all because of it. The technique does get many, many more articles for site owners for far cheaper than hiring someone to write hundreds of articles would cost. But is it worth it?
So far, yes. As long as there are enough versions and the writer has been skillful enough to not repeat phrases in any of them, the results can be terrific. Paying for five articles and being able to get 250 out of that work is a great savings for site owners who are already paying a lot for their content and web design. And all of those articles create backlinks to the site. Each backlinks is an indication of the popularity of the site and raises it in the search engine rankings.
There are a lot of people who find the practice deceitful, but it isn't against any rules and it is technically original content, as every version is different. The problem right now is that there are rumblings about Google changing their formula to count article spinning backlinks as much less favorable than other types of backlinks. This, again, all comes down to the skill of the person doing it. The new formula requires that a lot of phrases that pertain to the original topic be included in the content. A skillful writer includes these phrases anyway, as part of keyword optimization and doesn't repeat any phrases in order to keep each version as different as possible. Also, Google may rule the world for the most part, but it isn't the only search engine out there, and SEO techniques are aimed at all of them- not just Google.
So, how the changes will pan out for everyone using article spinning remains to be seen. If done correctly, I believe it will still be a viable SEO technique for years to come.

Post a CommentIt helps because each links to the site being marketed. Article marketing is all about adding links that will raise your page rank. With 250 links, you get where you're going a lot faster.
I am also a little confused about this - how does 250 versions of the same article help one webmaster?
Anyway, I made myself a simple-but-powerful spinner here on http://chacaturian.com/article-spinner/ . When I use it, I create any synonyms and sentence versions manually, so that I have full control of the flow of the text and am sure that there are no unnatural breaks in the 'speech'. Nothing is worse than when your article is blatantly a result of low-quality spinning.
Now I'm totally confused!
I agree with you completely. Article Spinning is a wonderful system of getting your articles to STICK in the search engine listings. But the problem is always that most people do article spinning the wrong way. They use software that end up messing up their articles, instead of helping them. Such software automatically insert synonyms that won't make sense in all cases.
Two of the very good software I recommend for article spinning include - PlugAndSpin.com and Jetsubmitter.com . The fact that these tools are completely free and come with their own article submission systems (when users upgrade) make them absolutely awesome!

Great article! Thanks for the information I found it very informative. Also, you do make an excellent point that Google is not the only search engine out there. This is a topic that I am sure will generate quite a bit of attention, as it is very timely.

I guess that could work for some.
