How 'Auntie Mame' Helped Shape My Love of Movies

Almost everyone has that one special movie in their life that has defined their love of cinema. That special movie for me was "Auntie Mame." It is an older movie which came out in 1958. It is a comedy-musical that takes a good look at life in a fun way. This movie shaped the way that I looked at musicals, and it has made me a great movie lover of them. These are the reasons why I love the wonderful movie "Auntie Mame".

Life

"Auntie Mame" takes a vivid and entertaining look at life. Patrick Dennis comes to live with his closet living relative when he is 10 years old. He calls her Auntie Mame. Together they go on grand adventures, and live a life that is filled with mayhem. It is a movie filled with humor, but most of all it a movie that is filled with heart. "Auntie Mame" is truly a dazzling movie to watch.

Love

One of the reasons why I fell in love with the movie "Auntie Mame" is because it is a movie that shows all types of love. It shows true love for friends, love for lovers, love of family, and many other kinds of love. "Auntie Mame" made me appreciate and love the people in my own life even more. All you have to do is open up your eyes and see how much others in your life have actually done for you. Then try giving them back the kind of love they gave you. That is what "Auntie Mame" showed me.

Musical

"Auntie Mame" is filled with music and song. It was this movie that opened my heart to many other musicals. For example, I really love to watch movies with Doris Day and Bing Crosby in them. Some people think that older musical movies are dull and boring. This could not be further from the truth. Musicals bring life into a movie, and they are very entertaining to see.

Spice

The character of Auntie Mame in "Auntie Mame" is played by award winning Rosalind Russell. She played her character with spice and vigor, and her character truly lived her life to the fullest. It made me learn a lesson to really value my life and to not take it for granted. I took Auntie Mame's words to heart, "Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death". Even as a little girl I knew I wanted to grow up just like Auntie Mame. I wanted to reach for the stars and always to look forward believing that I could achieve anything I set my mind too. Life is to be appreciated and to be lived to the fullest with great joy.
