There are several ways to get autographs of your favorite athletes. The harder way is to try and get the autographs in person at a stadium they are playing at. An easier way is to track down where the team is staying.
If you want to get the autograph from the player in person and meet them, then there are a few things you should know. Always go to the stadium as soon as the gates open. By doing this, you might catch your favorite athlete coming out from the locker rooms which is a popular time for them to sign an autograph. Many athletes also stay after the game to sign autographs which is another good opportunity to get an autograph of your favorite athlete. Some athletes actually go into the locker room after the game, change clothes, and then come back out to sign autographs.
If you really have the time and want to try and get autographs in person, try and find out where the players' parking lot is at the stadium. Many players will stop and sign a few autographs on their way to their car. Just be warned that some players will ignore you if they are leaving.
One of the best ways to get your favorite athletes' autographs is to find out what hotel they are staying at for road games and then hang out in the lobby of that hotel a few hours prior to the game. This is one of the most successful times to get autographs of your favorite athletes. Many of the big name players who do not sign at the stadium are even willing to sign at the hotel. Fewer people are at the hotel looking for autographs, so it is typically a more controlled environment for the athletes to be around their fans.
The easiest way to get autographs is to look for appearances they may be making at sports card shows, radio or television station events, and other similar events. Sometimes the athletes are being paid by the promoter to appear at the event, so you can get their autograph for free. At some events, however, the athletes make money by charging for their autographs. While it might cost more than you want to pay, it is a lot easier getting an autograph this way than trying to track down the athlete at a stadium or hotel.
The more you try to get autographs, the more you will get. Some days, athletes are just more likely to sign more autographs, so try your luck and maybe you will find yourself with some autographs of your favorite players.
