How to Avoid Bad Breath for Your Very First Kiss

Helen Hall
Young people dream about their very first kiss. It is suppose to be a magical moment where you get weak at the knees, butterflies fly around you and the love between the two of you is set in concrete forever.

Well a first kiss may not be quite like you imagined, but one thing is for sure...If you have bad breath you are not going to really enjoy it. People with bad breath are very conscious of offending other people with it, and no more so than their person they share their very first kiss with.

So what causes bad breath and how can you avoid it?

The number one cause of bad breath is bacteria in the mouth. You can develop bad breath just from the loss of saliva in the mouth which prevent bacteria from breeding. Saliva has a very handy role in washing the mouth and keeping it clean. Every time you are eating you are producing saliva. This in turn helps to kill the bacteria, so if you are not eating as much as you should during the day then this will increase the chances of bad breath.

Other reasons why you may have reduced saliva is from an intake of alcohol, certain medications, or just general dehydration. All the more reason to drink plenty of water during the day.

Another reason for bad breath is medical problems with the teeth, gum, nose, throat, intestines, liver and lung or even if you have diabetes. So as you can see there are many causes of bad breath and you certainly should not feel alone if you suffer from it.

If you feel your diet is well balanced and you don't have any reason to be overly dehydrated you may want to consult with a doctor or dentist to eliminate more medical and dentistry problem.

But for basic mouth odour control you can try the following things.

Chew sugar free gums. This is not just to mask the odour but chewing of course produces the saliva that will kill the bacteria.

Make sure you floss regularly. If you have food caught in your teeth it is going to decay and just like anything that decays, it is going to produce a dead offensive odour.

Avoid smoking at all times. This is just another great motivating factor to stop lighting up or never go near it in the first place.

Eat less meat and more fruit. Get back to the way nature intended.

And for a natural remedy try chewing on some parsley. It is known for being the best way to freshen your mouth and mask any unpleasant odours.
