How to Avoid College Colds

Enjoy a Cold Free Semester

College colds can be absolutely horrible. Trying to do your homework, make it to classes on time, and function properly can be almost impossible when you catch a college cold. But, how do you avoid it? Here are just a few ways you can easily avoid college colds.

How to Avoid College Colds #1: Avoid School Functions

Most of the time, it's easy to tell that a college cold has struck a campus. Class sizes will be smaller, students will be coughing and sneezing, and students will also be rushing to the campus store for cough drops. When this is happening, it's best to avoid school functions. Most school functions are packed, making them the perfect place for germs to spread. If you want to avoid a college cold, just skip that particular school function.

How to Avoid College Colds #2: Carry Hand Sanitizer

When college colds abound, do yourself a favor and carry hand sanitizer. Many people are guilty of coughing or sneezing into their hand and then touching door knobs, desks, and public computers. Whenever you touch these items, be sure to use hand sanitizer to prevent the spread of germs and avoid a college cold.

How to Avoid College Colds #3: Increase Your Vitamin C Intake

Vitamin C is a great way to boost your immune system. If you want to avoid a college cold, drink orange juice each morning and take vitamin C drops in the afternoon. This will help to boost your immune system and so will other vitamins and minerals.

How to Avoid College Colds #4: Use Halls ProHealth Defense Drops

Other vitamins and minerals that help you avoid colds can be found in Halls ProHealth Defense Drops. Halls ProHealth Defense Drops contain 11 vitamins and minerals that help to strengthen your immune system. To help avoid college colds, start taking Halls ProHealth Defense Drops at the beginning of the cold season.

How to Avoid College Colds #5: Avoid Public Computers

As I mentioned above, public computers can be a breeding ground for germs. Students may spend hours working on a report, while they're coughing and sneezing. These germs can easily spread to keyboards and the mouse, making it easy to pick up these germs when you use the computer.

How to Avoid College Colds #6: Wash Your Hands Frequently

One of the best ways to avoid a college cold is to wash your hands frequently. Washing your hands with hot soapy water will remove and kill many germs that you may pick up throughout the day. Make sure to wash your hands after using computers, the campus gym, and especially before you eat.

How to Avoid College Colds #7: Avoid Close Contact

You may be best friends with one of your classmates, but if they start sneezing and coughing, you may want to avoid sitting too close to them. You may also want to suggest that they leave class early and head to the doctor. Of course, do the nice thing and help them keep caught up on assignments and notes by calling or emailing them.

If students would eliminate sugar and not touch their face with their hands til washed they could reduce the number of colds easily. Good article on a topic that touches so many.

I like the way you handled this topic, Amy. No one wants to get stuck into homework when they have a cold at college or university.
