How to Avoid Creating Lazy Children

Mrs. Renee
If you are a parent you may not realize that may be creating lazy children. How can you tell if your children are headed down the lazy path in life? First you will need to take a look at your daily family routine. For example do your children have any daily activities that actually entail them going outside the home to play? Or do your children spend the majority of their time sitting in front of the television, or just playing video games? Following are some suggestions on how you can ensure that your children are not being raised lazy.

1. Plan at least one daily activity that you can do with your children outside of the home. Even when it is a little chilly out there are plenty of activities that you can do as a family that will help them to learn to be active instead of lazy.

2. Limit television watching. Children should not be allowed to watch television for an entire day. You should sit down and set time limits. For example no child should spend more than thirty minutes watching television at one given time. You could allow them to watch one particular show, and then turn the television off so that they can find a different activity to occupy their time.

3. Assign chores. All children need some type of boundaries in their life, and need to learn how to care for household. You can teach them this along with responsibility by giving them each a certain amount of chores that they can complete each day. Each chore should be something that is not too difficult for them to accomplish and can be done after they have completed their homework.

4. Have your child assist with making dinner. Fixing dinner is a great activity that the entire family can participate in. Not only is it a lot of fun, but it will help to keep your children from becoming couch potatoes.

5. Set a good example for them to follow. As parents we all know that children don't always do what they are told, but they will follow our example. So if you make sure that you are active, and don't waste time watching television all day, they will do the same.

These are just a few suggestions that you may find helpful when trying to avoid creating lazy children. One thing that no parent wants is to have a home full of lazy kids. Why not sit down with your family and make up a list of activities that you can all do together. This will help everyone in your family to live a healthier and happier life.

Yes, agreed. Frankly, sometimes.. our children will copy up what their parent do at home, in other words.. influence them. I'm a teenager myself and haven't married yet.. but its a good idea to be prepared for the time being right? ..
