How to Avoid Getting Peed on by the Baby

Congratulations on your baby boy! Clearly, no one gave you instructions to your beautiful new baby when you left the hospital, and there are probably many things that are going to happen when you least expect it. One of these issues is the process of changing your baby boy's diaper, and within 2 seconds of removing the diaper, you're being peed on. You probably can't think quick enough to prevent it from spraying all over you, the wall, the changing table and your baby himself. Therefore, being prepared for this situation ahead of time could save you loads of laundry, and lots of cleaning time.

The number one factor to causing your little boy to pee every time you remove his diaper, is because of the cold air, it has an effect on them and causes them to pee. Therefore, you'll want to find ways to eliminate the cold draft on their warm little bodies before beginning the diaper change.

Here are some great tips to keep everyone dry during diaper changing time:

Wash Cloth - Most moms' always have a washcloth somewhere within the vicinity of the changing table. Once you unfasten the diaper, slip the washcloth underneath to cover the penis and then continue the rest of the diaper change. Even if he does pee, the washcloth will soak most of it up, leaving very little clean up.

Quick Diaper Switch - If you don't have a washcloth nearby, then take a new diaper, and slip it underneath the dirty one (after you've unfastened it) and cover your baby's penis with the new diaper. Take the old diaper off, wipe, and finish putting the new diaper on. In the case that your baby does pee on the new diaper, you will need to do the entire process again. Therefore, this may not be the most practical tip, but it definitely works if you're in bind.

Pee-Pee Teepee - This great little contraption is sold in most baby stores, and some Walmart, Khols and Target stores. It acts as a small cup that can be placed over your baby's penis during diaper changes. However, if your baby is a kicker and is very squirmy, the Pee-Pee Teepee might not stay on too well. It will work best when they are infants, which is when the most amounts of uncontrollable peeing incidents occur. They come in different colors, and patterns, and can be purchased for around $10.00.

Wipe - When in doubt, use a wipe. It will soak up most of the pee and it can be thrown away after with no troubles attached. This has always worked great for me, but sometimes there are moments when the peeing is out of control and still leaks away from the wipe and all over the changing table.

Hopefully these great tips, will keep you drier in the future!
