How to Avoid Greasy Hands from Snacks when Playing Video Games

Lee Andrew Henderson
Twenty-five years. That is how long this Associated Content writer has been a video game fanatic. My love of video games started on the Colecovision and grew exponentially on the NES and at the arcade and now the Xbox 360. For a long period of time there was only nemesis I could not defeat. This foe was greater than Bowser, tougher than Mother Brain and a whole lot more evil than Sephiroth. The obstacle I am talking about is greasy hands.

Playing video games goes hand in hand with eating snacks. The most popular snack naturally is potato chips. Most potato chips are greasy or salty and if you're eating Cheetos then forget about it, your hands will be covered in cheese residue. It's impossible to play most video games with one had so the hand that is transporting the snack to your mouth will eventually be on your controller and that means gunk all over your controller.

It wasn't until recently that I found a solution for snack grease and once I heard it I realized it was a pretty simple solution. The solution to your hand-snacking problems is a glass. Instead of eating snacks out of the bag or out of a bowl, pour them into a glass. Then when you want a chip simply put the glass up to your mouth as if you were going to drink something and transport the chip to your mouth that way. This works best with Cheetos or popcorn (which is a healthier snack than chips anyway) because the snack is easier to maneuver because of its size. It will take a little bit more practice to get just one chip into your mouth at a time.

There are other advantages of using a glass to eat snacks as well. Some gamers will opt to sit down with an entire bag of chips. This can be dangerous. Most gamers will eat whatever is there. If the gamer begins with a bag of chips then the entire bag of chips could be consumed. If the gamer begins with a small glass full of their snack then they can better control the amount of snack that is eaten

Another advantage is clean up. When a gamer eats potato chips out of a bag or bowl and their hands get greasy they may wipe it off on their shirt or pants. When the gamer gets to the bottom of the bag there are a lot of small crumbs that could be hard to transport to the mouth via the hand and those small pieces will fall to the floor. Or the gamer may be lazy and may opt to leave a chip that they dropped (especially if the gamer in your household is your children). None of these things happen when drinking a snack out of a glass unless the gamer in your family can't even drink something without pouring it all over themselves and if that is the case then they have a lot more problems than being messy.

Great solution--and it controls your weight, too.
