Measure It
Use a dressmaker's tape measure to measure your hair. Then use your measuring tape to gage how much hair you want to cut. Clip up the hair at the length you are thinking of getting. Check how happy you are with the length by looking in a mirror from front and behind. Or buy a wig approximately the same length of the haircut you want to try. Spend an afternoon wearing the wig. If you are not completely sold on the length, do not get the cut. Prevent haircut remorse by trying out your look first.
Show and Tell
Sometimes our haircut descriptions do not match what we mean. Do not rely on your ability to explain what you want, or your stylist's ability to understand you. Show pictures! Bring pictures of front and back. Bring several examples.
Transitional Cuts
Avoid haircut remorse by using transitional haircuts. An extreme haircut can knock you back on your high heels. Instead, talk to your hair stylist about getting a transitional haircut. This kind of cut is in between your current length and the desired one. It is easier to reverse course halfway then when you have been shorn.
Be Honest
Answer your stylist's questions truthfully. Tell the truth about how often you blow dry or what kinds of products you use. This will help her to use the right products on your hair. Avoid haircut remorse by being honest about your home hair care.
Stay or Leave
Everyone has an off day. If you sense your hair stylist is having one, leave. Or, if you sense you and your new hair professional do not see eye to eye, leave. You are not obligated to get your haircut by someone you do not trust. Avoid haircut remorse and get out while you can.
Stay Awake
Do not nap while getting your haircut. Be vigilant and ask questions while your hair is being cut and styled. It is your hair and you have to wear it.
Avoid haircut remorse by being sensible and taking the right steps for the perfect cut.

Post a CommentGood tips. Sometimes I think we expect too much from a haircut.
My hairdresser has a comb marked with the inches and we agree before starting to cut what that measurement is. This has really worked for me. Good article.
