How to Avoid Higher Gas Prices

Gas prices are creeping up and they're not coming down. Say what you will about the politics of oil; the main result is that we, the consumers, can't avoid paying higher gas prices for no reason unless we change our gas habits.

Here's how to avoid higher gas prices.

  1. Drive less.

How, you say? Many ways. Take off for work 30 minutes earlier to miss the traffic and all the starts and stops that eat up gas.

Invest in a GPS with traffic reports. This can save your sanity as well as keep you from paying higher gas prices.

  2. Drive the speed limit.

Many studies have been done that between 60-65 miles per hour is the most efficient speed for cars. Cars use the least gas at a constant speed of between 60-65 miles per hour, so to avoid higher gas prices, keep your foot off the gas!

  3. If you can't drive less, you can avoid higher gas prices by keeping your auto pristine. To avoid higher gas prices by increasing your car's efficiency --

    Keep your tires inflated.
Change the oil every 3000 miles.
Invest in that fuel injector bottle every 3 times you fill up to clean out the insides of your auto.

  4. Believe it or not, washing your car can help you avoid higher gas prices. The dust from the air eventually, if you don't wash the car, will gum up your engine and insides.

So, the last step to avoid higher gas prices is to simply wash and wax your car.
