Credit cards have become immensely popular amongst the masses. There are millions of credit card users worldwide, and the list is increasing almost every day. Neither the banks, nor the users are shying away from using plastic money.

There are several varieties of credit cards available in the market. Some companies are generous enough to offer credit cards even to individuals with bad credit score. It is important to know though, that credit cards can have detrimental effect on your credit report.

Credit report plays a crucial role before the credit card application process as well as once the credit card is approved. Most banks and financial institutions determine your repayment capability based on your credit report. The major factor on which your credit card or loan approval depends is on your credit report. Individuals with good credit score have no problems in getting a card approved quickly, while those who have a bad credit score are usually filled with uncertainty about their approval status, and most of the time they even have to face rejections. Not getting accepted by banks for their credit cards also affects your credit score.

To avoid any kind of damage to your credit report, one needs to make sure that they clear all their dues before the due dates. To avoid any negative effects on your credit report, one should use their credit cards responsibility. This sets in the right idea about you in the minds of lenders and banks. They find you as a responsible person who is on top of his or her finances. Another factor to remember with respect to credit report is to not keep many open accounts. It might create an impression in the minds of lenders that you might not be able to repay them all. They look at it as a potential damage to your credit report.

Again, having more credit cards can be a downfall in the eyes of potential lenders, especially if you are full up to the brim on most of your credit cards. Although you may have full intentions to re-pay all your lenders, most lenders will consider the worst case scenario, and deny your application.

Missing payments can be a part and parcel, especially if you own multiple credit cards, and missing them too often may not look good on your credit report. Setting up some kind of reminder before payment due dates is a wise choice to make.

One needs to exercise good caution while dealing with credit cards and credit reports. An individual should always try his or her level best to maintain a good credit report, in order to reap its benefits.
