There are many different tips to avoiding procrastination that apply differently to different people. One person may combat procrastination by setting up a schedule and a breakdown of their work. Another person may just write a realistic goal statement and try to follow it. From the articles I have read, I am going to offer what I feel is the best approach to avoiding procrastination.
5 Simple Steps to Avoid Procrastination
1.First, examine the project/work and make sure that you understand what you have to do to complete the task, if not ask, someone knowledgeable to explain it until you understand.
2.Establish a goal of how much work you want to accomplish each day.
3.Set up a computerized outline of the project/work, divide it into sections and days. This will allow you to create a work schedule without putting too much stress on yourself to get it all done at the last minute. You will also be able to update and change the schedule with ease if a problem should arise, and at the same time you can see the progress you are making by crossing off parts of the project you have completed.
4.Start to work on the first piece and when a problem comes up, take your time to solve it. If you don't have the answer at first, don't give up, look for it or ask for help. Also divide the problem up into even smaller pieces. In doing so you will reduce the size of the problem.
5.Set due dates to have sections of your assignment completed. When you accomplish them, reward yourself. Do not reward yourself with something you were already going to do, go out to eat somewhere different, see a movie, do something relaxing and most importantly, realize that you have stayed with the schedule and are on the right track.
If you follow these guidelines, you should have an easier time getting work done and overcoming obstacles to the completion of your project.
