Avoiding getting Deodorant on your clothes. It seems whenever you are in a rush, when you have any sort of pull over top like a t-shirt or sweater, you get those white stripes of deodorant on your top and they will not come out no matter what. The best way to avoid them is to fold your shirt or sweater over about 6 inches on the bottom before you put it on (generally covering the area on the side that gets the white streaks) and then unfold it after you have the top on. If you get deodorant on yourself anyway, try rubbing the spot with a pair of pantyhose to remove the deodorant debris. You are better off treating this like a dry debris stain and not using water, which will just absorb into the deodorant and may temporarily appear to be removed, but actually will dry as a bigger stain.
Necklines, buttons and slits that will not behave. How do celebrities show up at award ceremonies with flowing plunging necklines and not show it all? The answer is Fashion tape. It is a double sided tape that is safe to have against both your skin and fabrics, it adheres to your skin and lies flat and you press the seam of your outfit or neckline against it and it keeps the neckline from popping open by keeping the fabric in place next to your skin. If you are constantly tugging at a blouse or hemline to cover you better, consider taping the back of a slit that is too high when you sit or using tape across the back of that button that always pulls open across your chest.
Your underwear shows through your clothes. When you wear white or sheer fabrics, your underwear usually shows beneath it. If this is not intentional, you need to wear the correct color bra and panties to not show through. The key is to wear flesh tones - preferably darker than your skin - even brown or chocolate colored at least dark nude - instead of white underwear under white. Then your bra and panties will blend with your skin color and not stick out. The key is to match your skin, not your outfit. Try to shop with this color underwear on so you can gauge how a sheer item will look.
Your bra strap will not stay still and slips off your shoulder and hangs out of your sleeve. Tighten it. You are not wearing the right bra for you if it won't stay on your body. If it is a good bra but has seen better days, or just a slippery strap, consider sewing a little loop of fabric inside your outfit to hold your bra strap in place, or have a piece of Velcro tape on your strap and one on your blouse. A safety pin can hold the strap in place in a pinch, as can the fashion tape.
Hoisting up the neckline of your dress. Strapless dresses look great, if they are supported well.If you chose a strapless dress for a formal event, think of it as a tube top with a lot of fabric attached to it, because that is essentially what you got. Add into that the fact that if you are wearing a bra, it doesn't offer much support, so whether you are small-chested or well endowed, that top will just be pulled down by the weight of the fabric and slip around. The only ways to counteract this is to try for a two piece garment to limit the weight on the top itself, to make sure the top fits appropriately, and to wear undergarments like a corset type item or a Spanx strapless tube top that will at least keep you smooth. You can try to have stays put into the top, but it is most important to move around in the top the way you will move when you wear the item. If you will be dancing, bending, hugging, or moving your arms or torso in unusual ways, you need to move that way in front of the mirror before you buy the item to see what will happen when you move. Your trusty fashion tape may help some, but likely the fabric itself is too heavy to gain real support from the tape. It is important to check these things before purchase, the prettiest lady cannot get away with hoisting her top up all night, the sagging top just drags you down so it is not a sexy sort of overexposure, and you don't want to spend the evening with a shawl or wrap around you because your clothes won't behave.
Bulges and lumps. No matter how thin or in shape you are, when we bend or sit at awkward angles, or slouch or carry things, we all have lumps and bumps that look like rolls of fat underneath our clothing. You can best improve this by trying to improve your posture, but you will likely still be doing things like carrying a heavy item or a child and compensate for it by sticking out your stomach for balance (note how your back feels the next time you carry something and how your body compensates for this) or we slouch when we stand or sit and get a weird tummy bulge or back fat roll. Consider Spanx camisoles that keep these lumps and bumps in check. They also allow your clothes to drape better on your body, so you get less wrinkled looking and your blouse doesn't become untucked as often. If you want shave off a dress size, consider the Spanx breastbone to knees full shaper it really does seem to knock off ten pounds. The leg length is adjustable so it can accommodate your skirts and even Capri pants.
While supportive undergarments might feel very 1950's to you, even if you are in great shape, some garments just need the support of an underlayer between the garment and your body, especially so with any sort of seamed garment that is intended to show off the shape of your body. Spanx and a Spanx line that is carried at Target are both quite comfortable and also have supportive undergarments layers right in their tops, skirts, pants. For a dress with built in support, try Newport News or Cass. Both have a black dress that could be used at a social event or for work.
