How to Do Away with Pregnancy Symptoms

Common Sense Tips and Personal Experience on Alleviating Pregnancy Symptoms

PrisZack
Pregnancy is a life changing experience, an amazing miracle! As marvelous as it is, there are enormous demands that our bodies should meet and huge hormonal changes that occur. Therefore, those of you who are pregnant have probably heard other women tell you how impossible it was to live through their nine months, how badly their morning sickness crippled their lives, how hard long hours of child labor were and how miserable the whole experience turned out to be, but I have something to say... Relax, tune out those words spoken to you and stop letting fear control you. My experience could have been just the same or worse but I decided it should be otherwise. I know some of you are getting ready to attack my disposition but please read what I have to say first. I am not condemning women that had a hard pregnancy, instead I am trying to share my experience if by any means it is of any help to some first time moms-to-be.
Take it one day at a time, let me walk you through the normal routine of a day looking at some real simple common sense solutions that helped me greatly although this is not a comprehensive list of do's and don'ts

• When I woke up in the morning, I gagged as I brushed my teeth, I initially thought it was morning sickness but it just turned out that the tooth paste was too strong. During pregnancy one's gag reflex is heightened, so I just tried different brands of toothpaste and found a suitable one.

• Next, I quickly ate something because keeping my stomach empty caused it to just growl at me! Always remember that you have a baby growing inside, and you need to eat for two. I always kept snacks handy, for instance, although I craved chips or fries I always tried to look for alternatives that I liked such as fruits, dried fruit and nut, whole grain crackers, breakfast bars, stringed cheese and so forth. Right there I not only eliminated the nauseous feeling but also took care of the acidity that might result from an empty stomach or from eating fried stuff. You may still feel like throwing up, which if you do, you should try to eat again.

• Pregnant women also have a heightened sense of smell so avoid going too near the trash or hold your breath if you are taking the trash out, a better suggestion would be to ask someone to do the chore. For those of you who have toddlers ask your spouse to change diapers or help do the potty training. Also, it really helps to avoid perfumes or smells that you cannot stand. A coffee lover like me had actually developed an aversion for the smell of coffee so I avoided the coffee machine area at my work place.

• At work if there was a job that I could do sitting I would sit and try to elevate my feet. If I had free time between experiments, I took a quick nap. This helped me work more efficiently and relieved stress.

• I avoided a lot of the news and views as they would disturb me greatly. Watching or listening to talk radio, Greta VanSustern or NBC's crime stories were out of question.

• At home I kept chores to a minimum. I had to lower my standards, I decided that if the house was clean I did not have to always bother about tidiness (the toughest thing for me to do, mess drives me nuts!). Asking for help was fine, I had a friend who helped me almost everyday, and she was a Godsend.

• Go to bed early if you can help it. If you stay up too late the chances of feeling queasy increase and it is not a pleasant feeling. Sleeping on the right mattress and using a pregnancy pillow can alleviate much of the stress and any aches and pains.

• Spend quality time with your spouse everyday. As tired as I was it felt good to just fall asleep in the couch next to him as he watched the evening news.

• I relied heavily on prayer and promises from the Bible for good health. I can confidently say that although I did try to take good care of myself it was only God who saw me through and helped me become an overcomer.
